Honestly I don’t see how Bernie could win vs trump though.. but I also couldn’t see how trump could beat hilary
I can see it.
Wasn't it you yourself who said that Bernie only seems extreme when viewed against the weird zeitgeist of American politics? Anywhere in Europe he'd be considered a centrist.
But yeah, I can see Bernie winning because he's the only one who can give the working poor a reason to get out of bed in the morning and go down to the polls on voting day.
If the Dem's nominee is another business-as-usual Republican-in-all-but-name like Pete Butt-plug or Amy Club-car, why would they bother? Their dream of a brighter tomorrow looks pretty much like the Rep's. Bernie is the only offering something different and with it, hope for the future.
Here's the choice facing the American working poor. If Trump wins, or Butt-plug or Club-car wins, your children will live just like you. They will bust their ass from cradle to grave, slaving away for 70 hours a week at three different minimum-wage jobs, none of which offer benefits. Their wages will never be enough to pay all the bills, so life will be lived as a series of deadlines from collection agencies. They will get fatter and fatter, because they'll never have time to cook real food, but will eat all their meals from the drive-through while rushing from one job to the next. Between the overwork, and the stress from the collections calls, and the atrocious drive-through diet, they're sure to work themselves into an early heart attack. At which point they'll find out that half the procedures they need in the hospital aren't actually covered by the health insurance they've been paying through the nose for.
If Bernie wins, your children might actually get a chance to go to university, become doctors or engineers, and break free from this nightmare. And if you do get a heart attack, your national healthcare plan will cover all of the procedures you need, not just half of them.
Voter turnout among the working class normally runs around 60% or something? I can Bernie bringing it up to 90%. That would make all the difference in the world.
