What if the guy from Australia takes his turns in the morning, and the one from France in the morning?

that's one of the perks of premium. give it a try, it is only $2ish a month.

I will go premium soon.
But that wont speed up 24 hour games.
It will allow me to play speed games.
And it will allow me to have more games where I'm waiting for people to have a turn, which will mean there will always be some games that need me to have a turn.
crustykev wrote:I've noticed the order of play can affect how long it takes until your next turn comes up.
e.g. Player 1 is in Australia. he comes home from work and signs into CC at 7pm local time, and plays a turn.
About 18 hours later Player 2, from the West Coast of the USA signs into CC at 7pm local time, and plays a turn.
About 20 hours later Player 3 from the East Coast of thre USA signs into CC at 7pm local time and plays a turn.
About 20 hours later, Player 4 from France signs into CC at 7pm local time and plays a turn.
Obviously I've used a worst case scenario as my hypothetical example where it takes about 3 days for four players to have a turn.
But if the player order was reversed, it would take one day for everyone to have a turn.
So my suggestion is that CC decides the order of play so it is sequential around the world, hopefully making games faster.
CC can do this because we all have our country displayed on our CC home page.
Thoughts?

Well how about each player decides for themselves, what time they are most likely to be online.
You could do this with the 24 hour clock that the site uses in the game log.
It wont always work, but if it improves 1/4 of the games then its worthwhile.
Of course, that's assuming it doesnt take weeks of programming to make it possible.
TheForgivenOne wrote:I doubt this would be implemented. Not everybody logs in at time X in their zone. So someone in France may log on at 7pm daily, but someone in Western Canada only logs on early morning. This would only make a few, my bet very few, cases actually work.crustykev wrote:TheFissk wrote:okay how do you place those who don't show a country?

And if it screws up the other 3/4 of the games?

I dont see how it could screw up any games.
The ones that werent improved would be no worse than they are now

I'm not saying we still shouldnt have 24 hours.
But if players allocated on a 24 hour clock what time they were most likely to play, and if the code then sorted those players into sequential time order, most times they wouldnt need their 24 hours.
Player A plays his turn.
Player B plays 3 hours later.
Player C plays 6 hours later.
Player D plays 4 hours later.
Player A plays 11 hours later etc.
A game takes 24 hours to go through one rotation instead of 2 or 3 days.

Thing is, a player could take advantage of this if he so choose. Locate 1v1 games where going first is QUITE a bit help, determines when the appropriate time to join, BAM, he gets to go first every single time.

I had been thinking about that.
To my knowledge, (which is very limited) the program allocates who goes first randomly.
I dont see why it cant continue to do so, and then continue sequentially by selected time zone after that.
