Bottlesexuals are disgusting abominations, and shouldn't be allowed to marry trash. Marrying a full gatorade bottle is perfectly OK, of course.

Call me crazy, but I'd rather hear someone support adult-child marriage and back it up with reasons than someone against it throwing personal insults... even though I don't support it myself.

Perhaps when someone supports adult-child marriage and backs it up with reasons that make even basic sense, that'll happen. So far, I haven't seen anyone actually attempt to do so.

God says a whole lot of things, in a whole lot of books, that are written by Man, they were not written by God himself. If you take all of the bibles, kurans etc they all differ in what their particular god says. So which one is right? They cant all be right can they?

Look I get everyone's points & opinions but the only laws our government should be making are those that "protect" our people, not hinder them. Example: I am a smoker & I support the no smoking in public laws because this "Protects" our people.
However I do not support the unfair Tax that is placed on cigarettes because this hinders my wallet.

If your religions belief is that gay people shouldn't marry than that's fine, don't be gay. But who says yours is the only religion or the religion that is the right religion? I am not saying your religion is wrong, but don't tell me its right or the only way either.
And certainly do not make or pass laws based on religion because I may not have the same religion you do.

We are supposed to be living in a FREE country, meaning whether your black, white, hispanic, male, female, gay, straight or whatever, we should have ALL of the same rights as any other citizen. It baffles me in this day & age where this country is going. We have a black president & yet Gay people are being treated almost the same as black people 50 years ago. Some of the laws we have today are so ridiculous and so Faith based its pathetic. It does not take Faith to know common sense. It takes common sense to know common sense.

To the point, You don't have to believe or have faith to be a good human being. No matter what your faith, treat others equally, live your life, not perfect, but as a decent human being & you will be the better person for it. Quit worrying about what others private lives entail.

Nobody is perfect, nor will anyone ever be. If your religion is right, than God will sort it out, not us.

Peace

Although I disagree with your assertion that the Bible is "written by man" (another debate for another time), the rest of what you say is absolutely true.

Furthermore, we need to remember WHY religious freedom is such a fundamental issue here in the US. It is because, even within each church, there is little agreement. We have just seen some hoopla over electing the first black (or part black-- again, another discussion). Few of us are old enough to remember that there was a similar, only slightly milder, hoopla over electing the first Roman Catholic President -- namely Kennedy.

If we begin allowing religion to decide what is correct and incorrect through laws, then the question is who's religion. If, as Jay asserts, this is a Christian nation, then the question is which "brand" of Christianity. Are we to be Roman Catholic? While I absolutely support their right to live and be, I do not intend to become Roman Catholic and certainly do not want them telling me that I have to live my life by their (narrow) rules. Is Dr Dobson, the whole new "evangelical" movement to decide? If so, is it the "green" branch -- the branch that believes harming the Earth God gaves us is a sin against God? Or is it the branch that says believing the Bible means you think the Earth is only a few thousand years old? Is it the "mainline" Protestant churchs -- the Methodists, Presbyterians, Lutherans, etc?

THAT is the real, fundamental issue Jay and others wish to ignore. When you claim you have the right to dictate to someone else, then you give that same right to others when they reach power. And, power does change. Beyond that, I, of course, do disagree with many of Jay's assertions about what Christianity entails.. but that belongs in other threads (again... )

And I'd rather not hear them spout arrogant, unreasonable opinions that read like the poster is from some kind of alien planet.

Besides, this is bradley we're talking about. This is not the first time he's jumped on this topic with his moronic shit. Do you think I start calling people retards without prior evidence? There's a 90+ page thread about gay-marriage somewhere here with plenty of brad being condescending, illogical and confusing to read.

I care very little about what you think of me insulting him instead of going into a discussion I've had numerous times already, the guy is an idiot.

For the same reason it isn't OK for children to have a job or own a home, silly. They're children. Surely you're being obtuse?

That hardly sounds like equality. It seems that adults are given a special, privileged status in society to have a job or own a home. Children should have the same rights as everyone else. Open it up for everyone to have equal accessibility for everything.

Frigidus wrote:Although I find it likely that being gay is genetic, it is irrelevant to the discussion. Unless you work from the baseless assumption that being gay is somehow wrong, of course.

Yet we're told that they were born this way. Liberals want to overturn years of historical reality in favor of something that may be likely. It's the responsibility of anyone to prove that if they're going to throw the homophobe label around. Let's see the unmistakable proof that there's a gay gene. The last time we had this discussion I showed a link from a group of homosexuals themselves who provided sources against it being caused biologically.

Keep up the dirty talk. You're turning Snorri on.

Woodruff wrote:That you consider the protection of our children to fall under "favoritism" only means that you are either a troll or mentally handicapped. Are you a troll or are you mentally handicapped?

Please prove that the affections and love that adults are any less legitimate than those of homosexuals then. Who are you to say that they aren't?

Woodruff wrote:And yet, you're not using them with any sense of judgement nor logic. Which leads me back to my initial question in this post...

I'm the one arguing for total equality for all groups of people, not just homosexuals. The logic used is the same as those on the left who rely on the terms of consent and discrimination. What makes them any more special than other groups of people?

When I see communities celebrating Incest Pride parades and wearing multi-colored ribbons for Pedophile Awareness Week I'll know we've arrived as a truly tolerant society.

Woodruff wrote:It doesn't do anything of the sort, and I'm sorry that you're unable or unwilling to comprehend that. Again, back to my initial question, which would finally help us to understand your particular disorder.

I went back to read your opening post in this thread and also your first post in response to me. Neither contained any question. There was a small quip about 'opening the floodgates to what', which I have answered. Most of your stuff did however, resort to a lot of 'I'm right because I say I am' type of statements. Either that or a bunch of 'you're wrong because I say you are' posts.

Woodruff wrote:

It might sound that way to someone who has a complete inability to discern logic and reasoning. And back to the top we go...so please, let us know as I'm sure we're all just on the edge of our seats wondering if you're actually mentally handicapped or if you're only another boring old troll.

And so, instead of answering the question, you return to the 'my position is logical because I say it is". How can anyone tell someone else that the attractions they feel aren't real and genuine? You can't tell one group of people that they're attractions are a civil right and others that they don't cut the mustard. That is favoritism.

I don't even know what you just said. Historical what? Do you rest your keyboard on your back so you can still type while your head is stuck up your ass?
Why do you wish to turn everything into a Liberal VS Conservative battle? Liberals freed the slaves, birthed America, ECT ECT. Everything you love came from the Liberals of their time. Some call it "thinking outside the box," for you I would call it "thinking outside my ass."

Hey, that must have been awesome. And made you feel great!
But no one cares anymore. And no one is arguing that, so bringing it up makes you look stupid. Sorry about your little butt Uncle Rico.

bradleybadly wrote:Please prove that the affections and love that adults are any less legitimate than those of homosexuals then. Who are you to say that they aren't?

I will say that it is irrelevant, because children cannot consent. Furthermore, even if you empowered children to consent, it would still ruin their psyche. It is the duty of the government to protect their citizens & guests and give them everything that they need to survive. Gay marriage has nothing to do with neither, which is what makes it bigoted to deny it.

Since everyone here in a forum made up of random people agrees with him but you, then logically he is the more logical one.

Just want to clarify one thing as I know I am the minority here. (big surprise)

I'm not TELLING people how to live. But as a Christian I am against gay-marriage, as I'm against sacrificing virgins, pedophilia, Satan worship and a host of other "lifestyles" that God did not intend for us to live in. How long are God's people supposed to "just shut up and let people live their lives?" Can we say something if they start worshiping golden calves in school? How about if they start burning churches? Can we say something then? We are called to be a light in this world, not encouragers of darkness. If you want to sit on the sidelines as the battle between good and evil rages, you won't see me trying to stop you. But if proclaim that you are on the side of good yet defend evil, what does that say about you? Choose you this day, whom will you serve? You can't have your faith and the world too.

God did not create homosexuals. He created man and woman. Why are you blaming God for the choices we make? Are you saying God created pedophiles? murderers? Liars? idol worshipers? Again, I'm not trying to jump back into this discussion. Just trying to clarify to those who misrepresent me.

About the children thing:

Children aren't allowed to vote, buy land, drink, etc, because they aren't mature enough to make these decisions because they're CHILDREN. Gay people can do all of these things, which is why they can marry and children can't.

So you're for the imprisonment of homosexuals is what you're saying?

No, absolutely not.

Not taking the bait. What you are failing to do is separate lawful and unlawful, right and wrong. So you imply that if something is lawful that automatically makes it "right". So, I guess you would have to support honor killings. Cause in some countries it is lawful. Morality is not determined by man, it is determined by God.
THE DEBATE IS OVER...
