Personally, I prefer when users stick to the same avatar. I like associating the person with their avatar; it helps me to visualize them in a weird sort of way, and, in a more practical way, to remember them!

As for me, I like mixing things up from time to time, but I still like having an image associated with me specifically. Something a bit more tangible than the general tone of my posts and my username. Thus, I tend to stick with different images of the same character. In my eyes, never changing avatars is representative of a more stable, dedicated type, while changing avatars frequently is representative of a more unstable, flighty character with fleeting desires.

It's interesting to note that more members of TeamCC stick to certain avatars than change them...

Great point. I don't like that name and I don't think it's appropriate. I don't think because that name is allowed that we should allow such freedom in avatars as well. Images can be worse.
So, is your suggestion to police usernames more?
