Yeah...but if you just ate the garlic butter sauce alone, it would be overwhelming....you need the snails, even though they are bland by themselves...
I think snails are probably treated fairly humanely before they are cooked.
But are they cooked alive?
What about lobsters? They are cooked alive, right? I've heard they feel incredible pain as they are boiled alive.

Steak, hamburger, ham, turkey, chicken, buffalo... You're right, good food is not ALL about steak.

For someone who calls himself an omnivore, I eat a very vegetarian diet.
I would not hesitate to kill, clean, prepare, cook and consume an animal if I was living in the wild. Since I don't, I'm usually able to eat a balanced diet with lots of produce. Support your local farmers!
