anyway i dont mind i vote yes because it might help the gap between muslims and christians and it will open the gap to the ex soviet republics so we can put some weapons in there to scare you know who
Theres more to it still after Cyprus right? I mean i know cyprus is the big one, but i was under the impression there were a number of the criteria that they werent really that close to meeting, which was causing some friction.
And i thought there was a general image problem with letting turkey in from a number of member countries right now.

Yes. What do they (Turkey) got to do to get to the EU?
You've got to be making considerable progress towards being ready to use the Euro. You've got to have low public debt, low inflation, a stable exchange rate, (a couple of other things, too... can't recall). To my understanding, Turkey is farther away from the requisite economic levels than any other potential EU member. At its core the EU is an economic agreement, and Turkey is not yet capable of adhering to its terms.
Now, if you want to talk about the EU as a political organization, that's a whole different issue...
