Keeping your rank.

Post by Jamie »

I think if a person achieves a certain rank, they should keep it, even if their point total drops. In a real military, once ranks are handed out, they are rarely taken back. Reduce people in rank for punishment, not bad luck. If we were good enough to achieve that rank, why take it from us. People fluctuate too much in rank, and it is confusing. Sometimes you don't get a feel for a persons true ability wehn at one point they were several ranks higher. By keeping people at their highest rank achieved, we will get a feel for their overall ability, and will be able to tell from their point total if they are on a bad streak. If your a major with 1800 pts, things haven't been going too well for you.

Are you saying I deserve to be a captain? 'Cause it sounds like you are...
In heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine, in heaven... Everything is fine... You got your things, and I've got mine.

If you have ever achieved the rank of Captain, than yes, you should be one right now. I used to be a Captain at one point.

Yes, but you see, I had it for less than a day. I didn't even earn it, I won a bloody assassin battle royale. Why should I be a captain?

You won a battle Royale and only made it to Captain? In the past, when people do that, they usually make way up close to the top of page ONE. In my opinion, no points should ever be given for winning a battle Royale. The winner usually gets over 2000 points. That's not right.

I won either 600 or 800 points, I can't remember which. But Battle Royale's aren't what we're talking about here.

The thing is, currently, rank tells you, approximately, how many points your opponent has. If you take that away, in my opinion, rank becomes useless.

If you want to know how many points someone has, look and see how many points they have. Rank tells you how good they are. If you are good enough to achieve a certain rank, than you are that good. Rank is about ability.

No, If you are good enough to maintain a captain rank, you're good enough to deserve it.

Your argument "but in the real military..." is crap because rank here is nothing like the same as RL rank.

No.. Jamie, you need to understand, ranks here aren't the same as driving around pizzas and getting more money when you reached a certain level..

I like the idea, and this isn't the first place it has been brought up. There has to be some way for it to change but perhaps it shouldn't vary as rapidly as it does now based on the score.

No Jamie, don't confuse CC with real life...

Jamie you were after me because I'm nothing but a poor badly playing cook... but a on stage I was private, now that wouldn't be fair would it if were to retain that rank, because I'm obviously not that good.

The ranking system is only there to indicate were a certain player is, If you couldn't move up and down the ranks there would be no fighting spirit in the game.

and Jamie....... piss off
