What does the US actually do?

Post by Jehan »

I was wondering today what the US economy is actually based on, It doesn't seem to manufacture stuff, it doesn't seem to have a whole lot of resources, apart from exporting defence technology, what does it do?

The economy itself is based on numerous variables. I mean there is weapons and military stuff, there is manufacturing and agriculture...the list is very large. As in my job, we manufacture construction and farm equipment that gets shipped around the country and other parts of the World. We also build the Liebherr cab which goes on the largest earth mover in the world! http://www.liebherr.us/em-us/en/105917.asp

If your question was meant to be What is the American Dollar based on...that is easy. The American Dollar is based soully on a military strong arm...that's it. Nothing backs the DOllar. The worth of the Dollar is totally dependant on military involvement and conflict. At one time, the Dollar was based on a certain amount of gold, but it isn't anymore. It is worthless paper that is bought from the Fedral Reserve at interest, in which Americans have to pay back as tax.

We make an obscene amount of corn. We literally have too much corn to sell, and have to burn a lot of it at the end of the year.

not really, we store it for the next year, and alot of california grows tomatoes, and i think new mexico grows seedless grapes, california also grows oranges, and up north, in maine, the catch lobsters, and shrimp, which is mostly what they do up there, thats also where alot of the major factories are, down south idk if they still plant tobacco or not, and in hawaii, they have palm trees and coconuts, i think they have those also in florida

You guys forgot about drugs!

Oh ya and the US is the single largest philanthropic nation in the world. The US gives monetary and other forms of aid to nearly every nation in the world. Oh ya and we provide over 40% of the monies and manpower used by the UN...

The government actually pays farmers to burn off corn (where I am from they used to let it sit and rot), it has something to do with controlling the market.

Most of the excess corn is being used for Ethanol production, as I haven't seen the big piles of corn sitting around as of late.

That's what I heard anyway, because I kept on seeing all these big mountains of corn that just sit outside. And I asked someone about it, and that is what they told me...so, if I am wrong, please tell me.

Well, the average American would disagree with you on that comment, but the upper elite who control the banks and the money would give you a hefty nod while they stick out their fat bottom lips. These guys can't wait for the next war, because it's the best way for them to make large amounts of money. Not only from aquiring foreign assets, but from the increased tax rates that are surely to come. AMericans are screwed! But the rich bankers don't care, because they can just BUY another country if they want. They can manuever their large sums of wealth to other foreign venues. America is not controlled by the People, which was its original intent via The Constitution, but has been taken over by foreign powers via the Federal Reserve (don't let the name fool ya, it has nothing to do with the American government; it is a privately owned organization run by super wealthy foreign families).

Let's see, coal, gas (believe it or not we actually have some), beef, wool, agriculture, vehicles, and many other manufactured goods.

This is what happens when you suck at making maps - the suckiness rubs off to other things.
