Deadbeat scoring policy

*Suggestion Idea: Deadbeat Scoring Policy Change to reimburse active eliminated players in multi-player games

*Specifics: Deadbeats should lose 2x points. 1/2 points go to winner (same total as now) and the other 1/2 is split equally and reimbursed to those players that were active till elimination, if applicable, even if the Deadbeating occurs after an active player's elimination.

If its only a 2-player game the Deadbeat will still lose 2x points, but the winner will still receive only 1/2 the points (same total as now).

*Why it is needed: Deadbeats negatively affect the game for everyone. Currently, only the winner benefits from someone Deadbeating. The other active players shouldn't be penalized for someone being unable or unwilling to complete games. This would discourage players from quiting in the face of defeat instead of fighting it out or from suiciding and quiting out of spite or any other behavior that would unfairly unbalance the strategic environment of the specific game. It would also discourage lower ranked players from turning over their armies to higher ranked friends in 2v2 battles.

although a very good idea i dont see this dealing with the new recruit deadbeat issue. New recruits who dont stay around for the game generally arnt going to be worried about there points. But another problem would be the points inflation from new recruit deadbeats. As far as i know this is a bad thing and thats why the new ranking system was introduced to slow down the amount of people on top rank.

where would the other half of the points lost in 1v1 games go? i assume lack doesnt take points out of the system and the only way points are added are by 1000 whenever a new player signs up

I don't really have new recruits in mind. Most new recruits who deadbeat never come back anyways.

This is more for the "habitual" deadbeat. Or for people who abuse multi-accounts for scoring padding for themselves or for friends.

I lost two speed games the other day due to Deadbeats quitting at disadvantageous times as well as recently learning of people having friends do it for them in 2v2 games so they can get control of both armies.

If 1v1s get 2x the normal points from a deadbeat, they could just abuse that by having dummy accounts or friends deadbeat for them.

The extra points would just disappear in a 2v2. If the x-tra points went to the winner for double win points, then this proposed change could be abused as well.

The intent of this is meant for compensation for people who feel cheated out of points by the Deadbeater going out at a such a time that results in their own elimination in multi-player games.

The winners of Deadbeat games should continue to get normal points as they are not affected negatively pointswise from players Deadbeating in any type of game.

Exactly. We don't want that to happen. That's why the winner should continue to get the normal amount of points in all scenarios.

What if a player was eliminated before the player deadbeats? Do they still get points?

Excellent point. I would have to say yes because the actions of deadbeaters before the actual deadbeating could be instrumental in that player's demise.

There is nothing worse than someone suiciding on you and then deadbeating. Or someone that significantly influences the control of a continent and then simply disappears never to be seen again even if they never attacked said player directly...

So for the sake of individual judgment calls and argument -- Any player in a multi-player game that is active upon elimination would get the partial point refund, even if they go out BEFORE the deadbeater deadbeats.

hmmm...i guess if points can't disappear overall then Deadbeats would lose the normal amount of points in a 2v2 game.

the rule would only apply to multi-player games?
