To be honest, I did not know that it was cheating to do this, I just joined this game a few months ago, and when I have played against players who have an unannounced truce, I thought that it was normal to have a secret diplomacy.

Notice the time stamp, I stated my intention in open chat and made no secret of the fact that I was focusing on one target as the main threat of the game.
That said, I admit replying to that post on the wall was wrong on my part. But there was no intent to do anything in secret.
