Thank GOD! We have truly a compassionate Republican State who wants to increase jobs by lowering the minimum wage from $10.00 to $7.70
The Governor said that keeping the minimum wage at $10 per hour would hurt workers.

There is no minimum wage in Sweden. Missouri is simply following Bernie Sander's advise to be more like Sweden. Bernie should be thrilled they're now 30% closer to Sweden.

$395.60
That is what the cut in pay comes to on average per month.
Guess that means more families on food stamps.....How can you survive if you have to pay rent, utilities, car repairs and paying for school supplies for your children?
Yes, this is the best thing to happen to these useless lower classes. More money trickles to the top where they EARN this money.

There is no general minimum wage, instead the companies sign agreements with the unions and these agreements set the minimum level depending on the employee's age and experience.
For example, these are the current (February 2016) minimum levels for employees in hotels or restaurants:
Age 17: 84,50 sek per hour ($9,94)
Age 18: 88,60 sek per hour ($10,42)
Age 19: 96,80 sek per hour ($11,39)
Age 20 and above, with no experience and no education required: 116,90 sek per hour ($13,75)
Age 20 and above, with 6 years' experience and no education required: 124,90 sek per hour ($14,69)
Age 20 and above, with no experience but education required: 124,00 sek per hour ($14,59)
Age 20 and above, with 6 years' experience and education required: 132,00 sek per hour ($15,53)
Yes Saxi, we should be more like Sweden! Plus everyone benefits from great healthcare!

Saxi, maybe you would happy if we had wages like in Russia?
Best Answer: Average wage or minimum wage?
Average wage in Russia is $640 per month, however, the absolute minimum I heard of is $100 per month. Poverty line stays at $200 approx. 20%+ ppl are below.
The minimum wage does not reflect money that people actually get, it is only used as a base for fines, calculation of salaries for budget / governmental employees etc.
Minimum wage per hour is not set, it is set per month.
upd. Russian median minimum wage is 4,611 RUR = $165 per month = $8 per day = $1 per hour,
Poverty line $200 per month = $10 per day = $1.25 per hour
Average wage , Moscow has it at the level of $1,400 per month, most of the regions between $400-600, and the country average is $640 = $32 per day = $4 per hour

Russia has a similar GDP like Italy. Russia has more land and people and lots of oil and gas, but the money goes to the few oligarchs and of course President Putin's pocket.

So basically exactly like the US then? Except with no minimum protections for non unionized employees?

Wrong Saxi, the unions are in decline here. Back in the 1960s about a third of the work force was union. Now it's around 12% and those are mostly government workers. Plus being in the working class you can go bankrupt seeking medical care.

Wrong Saxi, the unions are in decline here.
So, in other words, if you're a member of a union in Sweden, the union negotiates a minimum. If you're a member of a union in Missouri, same thing happens.
However, if you're not a member of a union in Sweden, you can legally be paid $1 an hour. If you're not a member of a union in Missouri you can't be paid less than $7 an hour.

The minimum wage isn't being cut for Missouri, only the city of St. Louis. St Louis voted for Clinton. Now their chickens are coming home to roost. That's the way this works. Friends get rewarded. Enemies get destroyed.

the working class just gave me my just dessert yesterday at Starbucks; it was a strawberry scone and was delicious
since we control all the guns, that's the only type of dessert I need to worry about in the near future (thank you assault weapons ban!)

Bernie fails to grasp basic economics: raise the minimum wage and guess what happens? The actual monthly income per worker declines. WHY? Because the market place does not justify paying an UNSKILLED worker $15, or in the case of St. Louis, $10.00 per hour. What skill is needed to work in the food industry? Those are unskilled jobs, versus plumbers, electricians, teachers, accountants, etc., etc.......Those folks got some education and training beyond a High School Diploma....but wait, even drop outs can work for minimum wage jobs because they are .......................UNSKILLED and entry level jobs in the work force. We can put in there retail store clerks and hotel workers......
(BUT....Amazon is replacing retail stores....OH, that is another issue...but also economics that Bernie and his simple analysis ignores.)
What is the impact of raising the minimum wage? Take the food industry, where many minimum wage workers have jobs (e.g., McDonald's, Wendy's, Pizza Hut, etc....).....
Raise the minimum wage and what happens? The price of burgers or breakfast sandwich or pizza goes up and what is the impact? Fewer of those sold so that workers work fewer hours. Also, with the coming of IA (robots) you now make it more likely that a robot will cook your burger, NOT call in sick, not get nasty with customers, not ignore customer requests, not.......GET the picture, Bernie?
Raising the minimum wage SOUNDS good until one considers the ECONOMIC IMPACT, intended and UNINTENDED, of such an action. What is the solution? Get trained, get educated, and get a better paying job. I did. I worked fast food and that put me through........wait for it......
COLLEGE.....I got a better paying job. Those that do not can become a manager, take on those headaches, and get paid MORE than the minimum wage. That is how capitalism works.
As far as your union argument, have you considered the impact of the Federal Government in the USA with EPA, OSHA, Office of Equal Opportunity (Dept. of Labor? not sure where they are specifically....)....?
Here it is: There is less need for worker protection by the Union. The Feds and state governments do much of those wage discrimination, safety, and health issues. We have less need for Union guys making WAY above minimum wage to "protect" the worker.
Quoting stats sounds impressive, untll you go beyond the mere numbers. Are workers better off and safer now that the events you cite, the French and Russian Revolution. HELL YA..! So Bernie, less hyperbole, please.
Are workers safer now in the US, when a coal mine explosion closes the mine until it it determined WHY the explosion occurred to prevent more death and injury? Ask OSHA.
Does OSHA (and other federal regulatory agencies) impact other industries, besides coal? I worked at a place ("factory") that got regular visits from OSHA and EPA and their state counterparts, SO YES, workers are better off. The purpose of most unions today, is to protect the workers' jobs and to negotiate wages and benefits. Important? Yes, no doubt.
Are workers upset and angry today in the USA? YES, for sure. That is why Donald Trump was elected and BERNIE Sanders did not even get the nomination, Bernie...OR...you could blame Hillary.....
btw: who were Bernie Sander supporters? (the REAL ONE, not the fake on CC....)? They were college students who have yet to figure out life, outside the textbook and lecture halls and dorm rooms (or apartments subsidized by Mom and Dad and the Federal Student loan programs).....and Bernie, while we are taking college students, LET's give FREE college education for them, because professors work for LESS than minimum wage and college Buildings cost NOTHING to build. So Bernie, consider those ECONOMIC facts.
So Bernie, go live in some city with $15 minimum wage and pay $12.00 (make that $11.99) for a burger. Want fries with that? Add another $4.99, small order of Fries, that is.....

I don't trust people who use ellipsis marks incorrectly. They sound like they're unable to coherently finish their thoughts. They also tend to ramble at length, with frequent digressions, about how actual evidence is bad.

The second Seattle minimum wage increase, to as much as $13/hour on January 1, 2016,
resulted in:
o a 9% reduction in hours worked at wages below $19/hour. A disemployment effect of
this size would occur if, for example, a business that employed 11 low wage workers per
shift in 2014 cut back to about 10 workers per shift in 2016.
o a reduction of over $100 million per year in total payroll for low-wage jobs, measured as
total sum of increased wages received less wages lost due to employment reductions.
Total payroll losses average about $125 per job per month.

How about those who leave spelling errors? Does that show incoherence, too?
Try addressing the POINTS made and not quibble over punctuation. You missed the POINT, Symm. You missed the point.

Talk about incoherence:

What does that mean?
And you complain about incoherence? That is TROLLING, Symm.
Since you cannot or choose not to deal with my arguments, you must agree with them, Symm. You complain about use of ellipses and then complain about lack of coherence? Stop dealing with minutia and deal with the main ideas, Symm.

One more example of your incoherence:
It is Season 7, NOT series 7, Symmetry. And you made some obscure reference to some little known movie or show? THAT is rather incoherent, isn't that right? Symm?
btw: I use ellipses to show that I am still thinking about the topic, but does not make my point from being understood. Do you ever use such a device in a conversation, Symm? or do you only converse via forum and typing?
