Agree. They should have some kind of approval system in place. It could also cut down on multi accounts.

I would say this is one of those instances where a new username will be required/allowed without additional expense to the account holder. Unless they discover that he has been here before.

We already have various policies in place, be they Freemium or Premium, if a name change is required.

I think people need to lighten up....everyone is so easily offended these days. Maybe its inappropriate, but maybe its not. I have a friend whose last name is Nigbur....hell it could be him and out of context the name would be offensive....everything is too PC these days....

I know, right? And does the word "swamp" somehow make this more offensive? Cuz I don't see how "nig" could really be that offensive, honestly. Black people call each other "nigga" all the time, so he could be black for all we know (therefore making it not offensive, am I right?). Just let it be. If it's a multi then deal with that problem.

Vic, we are on the same page except for one thing. I have been called "Nigger" pretty much 1000 times when I was a child when the name callers didint have to worry about pain. I am also from arkansas and lived in mississipi . The term SwAMp nig is not on accident, it is a very specific very intentional term to a poor black man living near the river in arkansas,mississipi, or Liousianna.... I dont think english is your first language.. This is pretty much like calling a jewish person in europe a "Fucking dog" or something alike... its pretty blatent and inflamitory. If you were arabic and I named myself "Sand Nig" , I think you would be pissed. or not.. i dunno.

The kid that did this is just some asshole loser that will have yet another miserable life like many in his station. He is wrong.. but in my opinion.. this thread was more wrong.... only idiots give attention to those that seek it..

to some, well the name might be hurtfull, but to him it apparently wasn't and it was accepted by the site. Different people have different norms, he payed his 25$ and has only played 7 games till now. He should get a name change but you couldn't guest him.

Maybe I just think people are overly sensitive because I'm a 30 year old white guy so there isn't a single thing that can be said to offend me. With that being said, I don't condone ignorance and this is probably one of the more offensive names I've seen. So hopefully they change it, I guess

Now if the accused is black, and "taking" the word back to "empower" himself, would it be an act of prejudice on the site to make him change his name? Does the site require proof of racial identity to use a word, that some are allowed to, but when others use it is considered offensive?

On a more light hearted note, has owen proved he is really jesus, because I'm sure he is offending a few christians.......... Look for it soon in cheating and abuse, offensive sig, religious baiting.

So my question is, is why should someone with a name like "swamp nig" be offensive and not every other small word that can be expanded or shortened to different offensive word not be offensive?

It's like saying to a name like Black Cat, "Oh it's very offensive because it has the word black in it" like wtf? my favourite colour IS black (and sometimes orange ), so now I can't tell anyone my favourite colour if they asked? And what if someone says Niger... (pronounced "Ni-jer" or something like that...) you know, the place in Africa, or Nigeria... So then we wouldn't even be allowed to spell all the countries in the world without someone finding it offensive.. I guess World 2.1 should be taken down since people may find the country names offensive...

While we're on the subject, dumb American me had to look up what "bogan" means, and found this on wikipedia:
