Priority of attack choices

Post by erikiscool »

Priority of attack choices

Concise description:
  • When more than one attack choice is available, have neutral countries be moved to last in the dropdown

Specifics/Details:
  • Change attack dropdown box for multiple attack choices - move neutral countries to last

How this will benefit the site and/or other comments:
  • This will save a lot of clicks especially in 1v1 games. I hardly ever want to attack neutral in 1v1 games

Hm, what about maps with a plethora of neutrals (such as the various conquest-style maps)---wouldn't reordering have a negative impact on the play of those maps?

Not at all, since it would be the same just asking if you wanted to attack any other players first. Likely it would not change a thing.

P.S. This does not change anything with clickable maps.

I'm still not sold that alternate drop-downs would be user-friendly, and not appear as 'random'.

On maps like Feudal War or Epic, it could list 2 or 3 player territs and then the neutrals right below that. I think this would be a great improvement, but I think it would work even better with the dropdown colours that BOB provides.

No, it wouldn't - during the beginning of the game obviously there's no impact since you don't border any enemies, and once you've reached the point where you do border enemies, you're probably more interested (or at least as interested) in those enemies.

That being said, statistically speaking it will not save many clicks - the only time a click is saved is when the very first territory listed is also the one you want to attack. That may happen some of the time, but not very often.

Drop down colors sounds like a better option for displaying information quickly, rather than reordering the list.

Never said they didn't. Thought my message was saying they could use Clickies. But many players use IE, Opera, etc. Or some don't go into the forums at all. Or if they do, they just go to the tourney threads.

I don't believe this will save many clicks at all. Consider that the ONLY time this will save ANY clicks is when the territory you happen to want to attack ends up at the top of the list. While the odds of that happening are improved to a very small degree by putting non-neutral territories at the top, I believe the confusion resulting from this would be more of a problem than the very few extra clicks happening now. Having the territories be ordered alphabetically really is the most elegant solution here, in my opinion.

Lackattack I think is more inclined to integrate Tool/Enhancement-esque features into Conquer Club, so I'd convert this suggestion to one suggesting the use of color in the drop down menu corresponding to one's opponent's color.
