can you quantify in any way the suffering of the environment??
i'm very interested if you can, i had a friend who when he was about your age had the same opinion, he kinda has changed though, people can suffer, and their pain is something we can relate to, i just cant compare the suffering of the natural earth to that of the people on it.

Caused by Human interaction, many things have gone wrong with the way nature has changed during history. Let's see; pollution slowing the Jordan River stopping water getting to Dead Sea which is now drying up, when once it was full.
Animals, like the Tasmania Tiger, had it's history cut short from humans.

In my mind a tragedy is an occurrence that had no overriding motive.
Events such as the Rape of Nanking and Pearl Harbor are not tragedies, but are rather acts of savagery and murder.
A car skidding off the road and sinking to the bottom of a river is a tragedy. A car being driven off the road intentionally to kill its occupant(s) is murder.

Interesting that the mayor of Paris recently had to remind his people to be more polite towards tourists. I don't think it's French people in general.
America not joining WWII in 1939? Could have stopped the holocaust altogether, and saved the lives of many more people.
Greatest tragedy if you look past humankind is the treatment of animals and the environment in the 20th century. Made so many different species extinct, and destroyed so much land, including the rainforests, as well as global warming and damaging the ozone layer (although that is better now then in was a decade ago).

All of that is relevant, of course. I could add to the list and a similar one could be made for every other nation. We all have skeletons and should be aware of them. The issue I have with the USA is that a lot of you think you are God's send to save the world. Just be more critical towards your government and we'll get along fine.
The use of a-bombs had nothing to do with the winning of WW2 against the Japan. It helped no more than shortening the capitulation talks. No one was going to die while conquering the Japan mainland.

Actually, much like the Soviet Union, it is Capitalism-on-steroids/dictatorship.
You get a super-wealthy, super-elite upper class and a super-poor working class. This is what Capitalism with eventually do, but, as you can see, both China and the USSR's Dictatorship/Communism beat you too it.

I would like to ask you a serious question. Were there circumstances in your life that lead you to adopt your current beliefs (i.e. - did you witness people personally getting screwed over by companies/rich people)? Did you read some communist literature which you agreed with? Was it some combination of the two? Just curious.
