for some reason when i was a kid, i always played with unlimited even though i knew enough to read the rule book and set up that game...
so when i started here, i always figured unlimited was also the norm... but it's not
i've been just recently starting to try out some games with chained or adjacent, but its something i gotta get adjusted to

But my version does have assasin. We have mission-cards, which is so much cooler than just one sort of thing and also makes the game a bit quicker.
I really wish they'd introduce that on CC. Not knowing in the slightest what the other person's goal is is cool.

funny, i HATE the mission cards, because they drastically unbalance the game.

mission cards suck so much....
has anyone ever played with the "expert rules" too? like one of them is you get a chained fort instead of adj, and theres another that says you can only have 12 armies on any given territ at one time, and if you trade in and you have that territ but it's got 12, the 2 free ones you get just die.... that game sucked... it took forever cuz no one wanted to roll 11v12

So I went to the game finder and searched for games waiting for players, 4-6 player, classic map, standard/terminator/assassin, sequential, escalating, adjacent, no fog, public/private, 24 hr; and guess what? There was only one single game! So I'm wondering, has classic risk (both map and settings) become unpopular around here? Does anyone still enjoy playing it?
In the summer, fewer people play and particularly, fewer people play the longer games.

Sometimes they do indeed.
However, I like the chaos is brings. The not knowing why some dude is attacking you. Is it to get more territories, to get a continent or to wipe you out? You can keep your purpose secret for longer than other types of play. I especially love the times you have to wipe out someone and he gets the mission to wipe out you.

I played mission once with 6 players. I had the mission to take out Red. My sister in law had the mission to take over a country in 3 different continents or something like that. She won in like 4 rounds. Very unbalanced. Assassin is a better option I say.
