Btw, I would first do God Storm and then Atlantis. From what I have heard other members say, God Storm is great to play so I definitely want to play it!
There are many many theories about Atlantis' location and whether it existed at all. There are a number of sites in the Mediterranean that fit the description of Plato's account. South America itself is also another theory, as is Ireland, Antarctica, Asia and the list goes on and on.

Yes, but I feel it's beneath me! :p *lol*

I've decided to pursue the GodStorm idea, even if it ends up going nowhere. I may pursue the Atlantis option at a later date.
For GodStorm, I've been thinking about incorporating some sort of god bonus into the map. So far my idea revolves around each continent having a god or palace territory that would act as an extra bonus. Maybe an extra bonus if you hold a god territory and the continent it belongs to, otherwise it would be negative. However, hold all the god territories and get a bonus. Confusing, I know, but I'll just see how it pans out as the map progresses.
Any other ideas welcome.

Ideas for Gods
Europa - Jupiter or Zeus
Atlantis - Neptune or Poseidon
Germania - some Nordic God

So, can we have some more opinions that reflect the poll results?
So far reverend_kyle, Ruben Cassar and skanska have shown their support with words, while Andy has said not to bother. I understand Andy's point, I really do.
I think the map is good and I want to include a twist on gameplay to spice things up. However, I realise it is basically just another Europe rehash. What it comes down to is, I realise GodStorm isn't truely a new and unique idea but I want to play it as I no longer play the Europe map.
I'd really like to know one way or the other what peoples opinions are. Go ahead or don't bother?

What in particular do you like about the Godstorm idea? I've got some more points to make perhaps...

I just think it's a nice map, playability wise. I'm keen to make a new map, maybe I'm just too keen to jump into the first thing I think is a good idea?
I like the idea of maps of different eras, such as Alexanders Empire, Ancient Egypt, etc. I thought a map of something god like or perhaps prehistoric would be nice. If we have Ancient Egypt in the making though, maybe that will cover the old world nicely.
Seriously, I have no problems with letting this idea go, maybe it's just best to do so.

I would like have this map, even though it may look like a Europe map, it still has it's differences. Also, it already has a nice layout to it.
Was it an official Risk map?

Hm, well it is an interesting idea. Perhaps if you base the gameplay...and the idea...on a similar theme, but different location.
What if you go the route of keeping a Gods Theme...but instead of taking over respective lands in europe...how about an area...slightly elevated? Maybe you could go with an idea of taking over a Godly Realm?

Yes, there are a number of actual Risk maps I considered. GodStorm was the only one I felt worth of developing further for the site.
The others are:
- Castle Risk
- Napoleon Edition
- 2210 AD
- Lord of the Rings (which we already have)
- Star Wars
- Narnia

I guess I'll see what I can come up with. I'll abandon the GodStorm idea for now.

Although I like the name Atlantis, I prefer God Storm as the map doesn't focus only on Atlantis.
It may just be me reading your post wrong, but I mean Atlantis as in a map of Atlantis. Just want to make that clear.
It's not clear whether the place is real or myth, but there's enough information out there to base a map on. It would be completely unique from a geography point of view.
I'd prefer to make Atlantis for it's uniqueness, but when it comes down to it I'd prefer to make GodStorm because most of the hardwork is already done and we know it already has good playability.

I guess we'll await further voting in the poll and see what Andy has to say about it all. When it comes down to it, we don't need another Europe map.

The sea level went up 100 meters on the last 10,000 years, I am sure there were lots of atlants all over the word... Did you know that 7,000 years ago England was connected to Europe.

If it was an offical risk map it should be done, we should have more offical risk maps because we know they have to be good at some parts.

Andy what EXACTLY do you have against this map?

I didn't say I had anything against it.

But I honestly like user created ideas, than official risk maps.

This could be a really good map, you could just take greek gods and put countries around them. With good detail it would be a fun map to play.

I'm going to have to agree with Teya, and ask... like what?
Chinese Checkers is the only new map that seems to be unique. It seems all the other new maps are either variations of Europe or are using capital cities to try and be unique.
and its so much played!
