I mean, I find this particular subject offensive, but apparently the mods and Twill do not, because it falls in line with their liberal mentallity.

Only dif is that I responded once to this crappy thread and have chosen not to respond to it again. It was my choice to not be involved with this particular offensive discussion. But I realize that to liberal minded people, it can be seen as being funny.

tbh, by in large the only people who dont think racist threads are a bad idea, are people who have some predisposed notion that arguing about fundamental differences between races is ok.

Theres a much larger group of people who think choice arguments arent offensive.

What was meant to be funny about the abortion thread? Seemed like a fairly sensible discussion to me. A few sick jokes does not a bad thread make, and they were generally ignored by the majority of those involved in the thread - especially those making significant debating posts. Those joking about had nothing to do with being 'liberal'. For example:

They can express their views, Suggs. We've had some long and detailed discussions about race before now, all without people getting banned. If you imagine this as real life it helps. You could have a healthy and heated discussion about race and immigration in a pub where people of every race were drinking, but if you went as far as Norse did on some occasions one of those people would knock you the f*ck out. That's the general line I think is reasonable to draw when posting on an Internet forum, especially as part of a community where many people pay to be here.

This is a messy, flabby thread.

From a rightist perspective, I can see how the abortion debate and a racial debate could be compared. One is arguing the humanity of a race, the other the humanity of a fetus. There are critical differences between the two, but I don't think they matter for the purpose of this discussion.

The way I see it, Norse was repeatedly warned about his behavior. Whether his ban was in response to sexual impropriety or ethnic insensitivity, he knew the consequences of his actions. I'm not sure I agree entirely with a permanent forum ban, but since he had been consistently warned of the abrasiveness of his behavior, I have no pity for him, and will not call for his return. The mods might be a bunch of hardcases (I wouldn't really know), but he had several chances, and he fucked them up. Regardless of how trivial his past offenses were, he knew there was a line, and he consistently crossed it. Sucks to be him.
