I have.
So anyway, have any of the creationists have read The Origin Of Species?
I'm going to be honest: reading Darwin was almost as painful as reading the Bible. I couldn't finish Origin or the Bible, but they were painful for completely different reasons. One was due to the Victorian writing style, the other was due to... well... a lot of things.
Elaborate on that.
Anything mildly considered to be an innuendo is not permitted under that writing style. Sex was probably more taboo under Victorian rule than any other society I can think of.
Carebian Knight wrote:How many evolutionists here have read the Bible?
I have read Mother Goose and Grimm's Fairy Tales. I should at least get 1/2 credit.
I certainly hope you're not suggesting that the bible is little more than a fairy story used to teach morality to the less mentally capable members of society
I'd put it on par with Aesop's fables. (not sarcasm)

I believe in legal prostitution, but with constant STD testing. Statistics show that perverts that can express themselves with pornography and prostitutes are less likely to commit sex crimes.

back on track, i have Read the Bible...something about "know your land, know your enemy". As i have read "Origin of species". I go with evolution. Because it has scientific backing that can be seen in the everyday world. Creationists. show your evidence!
"Try us with your questions wanderers. Let the game begin!"
(guess who wrote that!)
another thing...i know off topic but what will happen if we oneday meet an alien race (which everyone creationist will obviously disagree with what i am about to write) who are more advanced then us and tell us something to the such "Earth? That was one of our genetic testing grounds. I can't believed you guys lived! Would you look at that..." Or something of the such that basically states religion was never anything more then a fad. what then?

Ok, turn it around a bit, what if a more advanced alien species makes contact with us and tells us that they have actual proof that God exists and made everything in the universe just the way it is and that inter-species evolution is nothing more than a fad. What then?

Keep dreaming. I know what you're saying is a metaphor for jesus, no he's not coming back (and if he is there's a good family guy clip about it).

If there was actual proof then science would adapt to fit the new found facts regardless of the situation.
That's the difference between science and religion, really. Science takes the facts and creates the theory to fit them. Religion makes theories then creates the facts to fit them.

Then a good bit of Christianity dies with it.
Christianity is based off the idea that humanity is the one and only sentient species; God likes us the best. Actual evidence of aliens would render this quite major foundation of the religion obsolete.
We own all your helmets, we own all your shoes, we own all your generals. Touch us and you loooose...

I don't remember anywhere hearing that Christians thought we were the only sentient beings in the universe, on Earth yes, but I've never heard that we are the only sentient beings in the universe.

Actually I wasn't making a metaphor to Jesus, but if that's what works for you then whatever.

Isn't there a part about (hu)man being made in gods image (probably spiritually as well) and taking care of the day-to-day bureaucracy like giving names to all the other stuff that was created and such?
Any other sentient species would thoroughly upset the idea of humanity being the crown of creation, especially if this species were to be more advanced than we.

So... despite the many claims that Evolution is total bunk; didn't happen and never will happen, these hypothetical aliens managed the entire process in under 6000 years flat.
Crazy inconsistent arguments much?

No, no, no!
Evolution exists when it supports a religious viewpoint. When it (more often than not) doesn't support it, evolution's rubbish and doesn't really happen.
See if evolution actually supported God's existance then these religious extremists would do nothing but bang on about it. It's only because it doesn't support their beliefs that it's "bad" science. M'kay?
and yes i am christian, i am high church of england (which is closer to catholicism then anything else)

Actually the earth is 4.5 byo. I don't really see how you can funk that up. Not to mention that Genesis was written supposedly soon after the actual occurrence, not that anybody would remember what it was like since they weren't there.
