what about if there was a "conquest" instead if eliminating a player, i know its sort of like a mission card but if its all blacked out u almost have to figure out what your mission is - then try to execute it. while avoiding the opponent. also i dont know if this has been mentioned but i'd like to see a "practice" opportunity for new maps a situation where the game does not count on your record.
I say forget the riddle, just have random borders and effects on the territories. That sounds really cool. Maybe you could even do a different map each time, not just xml.
It could be in space. Planets move around each time you play the map, so you never know exactly the what the gameplay will be... sorry bout the ramble
anyway, this reminds me of my idea of having chosen "skins" to maps. For example, I think classic is butt-ugly. I would prefer it if an experienced map maker made a revamp. However, many people would take offense to that. So if you made it a choice what skin you wanted, than it would be cool. There would be a ton of different takes on what it should look like. Maybe a futuristic one. Maybe a space one with all the countries stars in a galaxy! I think that this is a good idea and should be implemented.
i am not at all against having maps solely meant for certain types of game plays, it sounds great! also the random XML sounds great too. the only thing is BOB will still mess you up! just take territories at random until BOB says you are getting a bonus, thens top and build lol

edit: nvm....
copyright issues?
otherwise I love the idea, but it would need so much work i'm wondering if it would be worth it...

copyright can be surpassed by calling the map otherwise
and indeed it could lead to a tremendous amount of work but i'm up for that

termendous amount of work? you cope and paste and edit the bonuses....
i'm more worried about the graphics. for the idea i would have to actually make 20 images (10 large + 10 small)
not an easy task

i shall start the analysis of the project when the age of realms trilogy is complete.

If this is put into play there should be a restriction that new recruits aren't allowed to play. Seriously, they'll be like WTF??!!!, deadbeat, and never come back.

lol. i guess it can also be blocked for new users just like doubles and triples.

Hopefully the new initiative I've started will reach a conclusion we can all agree on and that lack will be willing to implement sot that new recruits can easily see this shouldn't be a map they play until they are ready.
the map will be started when the AOR trilogy is finished so that means somewhere in january. probably at the end.

primary problem i see: this map or set of maps or map with a bunch of random vairants or whatever-you-call-it basically will still give huge advantages to folks who've had more experience w/ it. Once people have played it a few times, they'll start figuring out how the map(s) more or less work out, and after they've played it a few hundred times, they'll be familiar w/ the majority of all the puzzles... and if we make this map then i bet a very small amount of people will specialize in it and become very experenced in it and then just keep stealing points from everybody else w/ it.
