I also do not believe chewing gum is food.

Good thinking. I was wondering when someone would realise to ask this. I had to use wikipedia myself to answer the question.

There are several "new" food groups on the Pyramid. Can you clarify what you considered to be groups?

There are several "new" food groups on the Pyramid. Can you clarify what you considered to be groups?

Food groups refers to a method of classification for the various foods that humans consume in their everyday lives, based on the nutritional properties of these types of foods and their location in a hierarchy of nutrition. (taken from wiki)

The bolded part is where opinion of meaning could differ.

It is food taking the literal meaning, "any substance that can be metabolized by an organism to give energy and build tissue"
