and 1 more thing mabey if you like make it rainbow or something it would be more apealing like rainbow on the out side mabey inside mixed colors and middle like gray or something i don't know just making and input but it is comming a long well just have that in mind

If you haven't done so already please familiarise yourselves with How A Map Progresses Through the Foundry where u will see there are some changes as to how a map must be presented to the New Ideas Foundry.

I cannot move this map as I believe it is still being formulated and must have at least two graphical updates....you only have 1 so far.

I believe you have some gameplay there, but how are the xml coordinates going to be identified? And in wl_southern's lead article for the map there is no concept stated. if you could fix this please.
If you could state something on the map about this in your next update then i will definitely consider moving it.

There is no need to start a new thread.

Also, i would like to see a poll put up to determine if there is any interest for this map; i can see that there is some support, but it would also be good to gauge this via a poll, if you would.

Update 2-

Changes-
Added a unquire line nameing system.
Changes colours.
Changed legend.
Added instructions.

Cairns, i think this meet all the criteria for moveing to the foundery (It is southys thread so i can't do the poll but the map feedback has been good...)

OK....

1. there appears to some support from the comments thus far
2. there have been two graphic updates, but this needs some good future graphic work
3. there is a some instructions about play but can be improved.
4. i would still like to see a poll on this one to guage support, so as soon as you can contact wl_southern please and have that poll placed.

Moving to Foundry....

i still hate the idea because all i see here is the crappiest map on the site (crosswords) made even crappier (by making it symmetrical).

anyway i want to say that currently you have size issues.

if that is the small map then you're way over the size guidelines
if that is the large then you fit the guidelines but you can't fit the army numbers. i'm not talking about triple digit because even double digits don't fit.
also you'll have huge army overlapping problems.
basically pink 1 and 2 will overlap in triple digits (and even double) and there are more (red green etc) i think there are 13 places where army numbers will overlap. so you either have to move terits around (which basically ruins your whole design) or increase the size to fit triple digits (which will cause the size guidelines to be brutally broken)

as long as those ideas mean it's not gonna be about crosswords and it's not going to be symmetrical i'm ok with them.

i don't understand 1 thing. the crosswords is the crappiest map ever made. that's clear and the vast majority agrees.
second symmetrical maps are crap. same thing the vast majority agrees.
third thing. this map is going to be a standalone map. meaning it will not replace the current crosswords.

so despite all these things the map has support in the poll and 14 people voted it's a good idea.

funny thing about this number. 14. exactly 14 people voted in the poll for troy mclure's real estate map. and that was an idea far better than this and had far better graphics. and yet it was abbandoned for lack of support.
what's the foundry coming to?

i mean no disrespect to you or spinwizard but this is probably the shittiest project i've seen in a long time (since plasagna map and that was more of a joke. this is serious.).
we have maps like Dungeon of Draknor that are far better regarding the theme the gameplay the graphics. well basically far better in every aspect and they get 5 times less feedback than this. really people let's get serious for a moment here. crosswords is the crappiest map ever made. do we really need another one?

dim crossword cant be all that bad its been played roughly 3000 to 3700 times since it was first played back in april this year and it had tourneys games on it to yes it do have its followers that play it a lot

this is what i think of the new map its more colorfull more symetrical i think the objective here is to get people who are not cross word fans into playing it well now that he put the numbers on i definatly think i would play this map so would some other people i know it just seems to be comeing really really well great job i can't wait to see the final guys

crossword is simply a bad map. it's not difficult it's actually just as simple as classic. terits that border and form continents.
the main problem is the theme. and the graphic presentation.

for example Age of Merchants is considered to be one of the hardest maps around because the gameplay is different than anything done before.

and yet if you look at the stats AoM has around 2200 games per month. while crosswords has 200 games per month. that's 11 times less games. and just look through the forums for threads like "top5 hardest maps" or "your least favorite map" and you'll see AoM is present in each of those threads. heck, AoM has even been banned in a tourney because people complained it's too hard.

i guess the thing is nobody wants to fight over a crossword puzzle. they'll rather fight over some countries.

and it is in tourneys because some tourneys insist on using each and every map.

do a simple search right now click on game finder and select crosswords and leave all settings available. you'll find just 4 games. all private games.

now do a search for any of the other maps i think you'll get the idea :roll:
