We don't 'need' to go metric, some people use it anyway, but most people like it the way it is.

Metrics so much easier to use though...I dont understand why you would prefer imperial..

There is only ONE reason why is US is not metric. They wanted to change before and majority of the population want to go metric, but the big automotive companies are against it, because it would cut into their profit to change computer and mechanical systems in their factories.

By the, what the hell is a "stone"? I mean, come on, not all stones weigh the same. Some pebbles weigh less than a pound and some boulders are over a ton! Get with the times stupid Brits!

Stopper, you are unbelievable. Taking the one part of a post that meets your needs. If someone had no idea what this thread was about, they would think Americans ARE idiots. Most of us aren't. The smart ones don't make the news and shit like that. The 5 percent of them are giving the 95 percent of us bad names.

Look, I'm not sure what you thought I meant by that, but just in case, I'll say now, I don't think the Americans are any more or less stupid than anyone else, and the video at the start of this thread was a set-up.

I simply found the statement "I also have many friends...[that] I consider [to be] idiots..." very funny. (The "in america" bit is irrelevant - it never occurred to me to take it out.)

Metric wouldn't take too long to get used to, its the degrees I'm concernicus about. 32 degrees? WTF is that like high or low (I know it's about 90 in farenheit but I need to translate the degree to know what it really is, I can't just get accustomed to it)

... In a matter of time you start thinking in metric, and realize how very ancient and stupid is the older system. I'm back in the US after some years abroad and I'm having a helluva time readjusting.

... And metric is so easy to understand... based on 10's, and temperatures - water boils at 100, freezes at 0, simple. One litre of water has a mass of precisely 1 kg, etc...

... Japanese use metric... but measure golf holes in yards, go figure.

Sorry to resurrect a dead thread, but here is indefatigable proof that Americans are indeed stupid.

Recently, a kid was suspended from school for drawing a picture of a laser gun. Why?
school officials mentioned the seriousness of the issue and talked about the massacre at Colorado’s Columbine High School - the site where two teenagers shot and killed 12 students and injured 24 others in 1999.

Yes, because two psychos shot up their school 8 years ago it is now punishable to draw a picture of a laser gun. A gun that doesn't even exist outside of science fiction.

Way to go guys, you've set us back another 50 IQ points. Pretty soon this nation will be dumber than a piece of cake.

Hate to break it to you sweety- we are already to that point on/off..

My brother has a Spanish class/ lab. This guy signed up for the lab but not the class so he can be fluent in Spanish before he goes to Spain... When does he go you might ask yourself... in 1 month. This guy expected to be fluent in 1 month, and know EVERYTHING that even the people that have taken Spanish for 2 years didn't know.. Nice right? My brothers teacher called the guy loco, and my brother laughed because only 3 people knew what loco meant in Spanish! The teacher even called on him and demanded to know why he was laughing and he told them why and its just great!

I wonder just how many people they asked these questions to and answered them CORRECTLY (that they omitted from the video) I can answer EVERY single question as I'm sure MOST Americans could. They recorded the idiots answers... no fear kitten.... it's easy to spin something when YOU have the camera in your hands.

Actually, I kinda feel Jay's right here, that's the way these shows work, cherrypicking the dumb ones. Game shows used to (possibly still do) pick the dumb people to go on, both to provide entertainment value and cut costs.

Of course, the fact that, even if this may (MAY) not be the majority of America it purports to represent, the fact that at least some of us don't know what the language spoken in Rome or whatever (forgotten most of them) doesn't bode well for the Republic.

... Wait, was that faked?

That film is such bullshit. While it's true that there are a lot of stupid people in the world that do not keep up on current events, there are a lot of very intelligent people that do. Can someone please name one country in this world that do not have stupid people? If I made a similar film in any other country and edited out the smart people, I'm sure I would have the same results. Those who believe that this film represents a true sampling of all Americans are more stupid than the people on the film. Wake up people. Do you believe everything you see?
