hate to break it to you honey...but they always butcher the book...

Say whatever you will but I have read the Harry Potter's books and yes they do butcher every single book. In fact, the 4th one was utterly destroyed.

I'll go see the movie but I am not in any rush. I just want to see how they will make the incident with Black look.

I'm glad I haven't read any of the books, so I don't really care what they do to the movie. I never saw number 3, though I did see number 4. Meh.

I don't like HP that much.

And if I remember right they didn't explain the origin of Harry's map or why Sirius, Petigrew and Harry's dad were all animaguses in the third one.

While it would have been good to have the origin of the map written into the movie, the reason behind them being animagus wasn't central to the story.

I've seen the 5th movie and yet again I was a wee bit disappointed. I think it's largely because I've read the book so many times, and have formed my own impressions in my mind of what characters should look like and act like etc.

Even though LOTR wasn't true to the books, because Peter Jackson was such an awesome Director, and was the director for the entire three movies, he was able to pull of great viewing. I think the problem with the Harry Potter movies is that there is a different Director every movie, and hence different visions of where they want the movie to go.

yeah sirius's death scene didnt seem as tragic in the movie...also the fact that krecher was barely shown at all..when in the books he has a HUGE HUGE role...he made like a 20 second apperence..dissapointment :(

It may have not been central but it would have helpful to those who did not read the book.

Therefore to those who don't know. I will give the brief version of why they became animagus. It was so that they could hang out and watch Remus during the full moon. Sirius & Harry's dad would turn into large animals to keep him under control and Wormtail was a rat so that he could get around the whomping willow and paralyse it. Harry's dad transforms into a stag (which also happens to be the form of Harry's Patronus in the books.)

A girl at my work is a huge Harry Potter fan (too a much larger degree than I am) and she told me that there is some debate over whether Sirius is actually dead.

If you ask me, I would have to say he is but apparently there is some debate.

I believe it's a stag, actually.

*SPOILER IF YOU HAVEN'T SEEN THE MOVIE YET*
It doesn't really matter why they turned into animagus. For people who haven't read the books, it's a moot point. They don't know any better and it wouldn't ruin the story for them. :roll:

Yes Sirius is dead, but as Loony said, things that are lost to us always find their way back to us, even if not in the way we expected. So I'm pretty sure Sirius will find his way back into the final book. Personally I'm in denial about Snape really killing Dumbledore. Only 9 more days :lol: :lol:

The things I would have liked to have seen, or been done differently:
The death scene was pretty unextraordinary;
Kreacher mumbling more about filthy half-breeds and crap under his breath;
Harry talking to Kreacher through the floo network;
The Swamp that Fred and George left that no teacher would remove
The statues coming to life in the Ministry;
The dementors and the death eaters appearances changed from the last movie;
Harry didn't feel nearly enough full of hate/resentment towards the world, and his last scene with Dumbledore in his office was unremarkable;
Seeing Neville's parents and Professor Lockheart at the wizard hospital - the scene where Neville told Harry about his parents was crap.

yes all that was stuff that should have been in it..but it would have been over three hours by then...but i would rather have sat through it...

heres my theory on if sirius will be back in the 7th book..

does anyone remember in the 5th book at christmas time i believe it was sirius gave harry a mirror and said anytime that he needs sirius, that he could use the mirror and talk to him.....now i dont know whether the mirror works outside of the living demension or not but if i remember correctly, the author never mentioned the mirror again really(unless harry already tried using the mirror in the end of the 5th book and i forgot already)

that may be a possibility

If you ask me Sirius was more of a surprise than Dumbledore because looking back you can kind of see that Draco at the beginning of the book was not intended to kill Harry because Narcissa would not have been that worried for Draco's safety if it was just Harry he was intended to go after.

Also, you know that Voldemort would be looking to get rid of Dumbledore by any means necessary.
