Your obsession with mrswdk is really sad.

I actually don't disagree with you, at least not completely. I'm a big believer in living low carb. Nonetheless, just like everything else, there are people who overstate the case. It's true that running high sugar is a risk factor for numerous diseases including cancer and the other big-name killers. It's not true that you can eliminate all cancers simply with a clean low-carb diet. Genetics do matter. Environmental pollutants that you can't detect or avoid do matter. Pure random chance does matter.zen330 wrote:Sorry to hear about your mother. Between my “heretical” view on the topic (backed up by numerous MDs and others for those interested, for example see the Low Carb Down Under conference/youtube channel and others like Dr. Ken Berry MD, Dr. Eric Berg, Dr. Shawn Baker MD, and most likely Dr. Paul Saladino MD and Dr. Anthony Chaffee MD) and your rather impolite reply I will consider this a good test of the forum as a free speech-friendly site.
I won’t explain the theory further unless someone else asks as I’m not looking to provoke hostilities. Didn’t mean to trigger yourself nor anyone else here.

I mean... I'd have a hard time believing you were shadow banned unless you're linking to a site that's dubious. That's not so much free speech, just a protection against possible fraudulent practices. I'd rather not share details about how ugly some of those diseases can be, but not eating or short portions just seems like the typical "alt" science that's been proven wrong in most cases.zen330 wrote:@DirtyDishSoap (does putting the @+name notify people of comment replies here?):
Thanks, glad to hear about the site being relatively non-censorious. Regarding your quote and as a test of sorts (I was shadowbanned from a chess site for relaying this) you and others might be interested in the idea that many serious diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and dementia are primarily/in most cases due to metabolic dysfunction, and that fasting or intermittent fasting/time-restricted eating can cure the dysfunction and the related diseases.
@Koolbak: Thanks, found the notification checkbox under the advanced (not quick edit) comment edit feature.

To be clear my comment was "you and others might be interested in the idea that many serious diseases like cancer, diabetes, heart disease, and dementia are primarily/in most cases due to metabolic dysfunction, and that fasting or intermittent fasting/time-restricted eating can cure the dysfunction and the related diseases”Dukasaur wrote: But when you oversell the case and claim that we can avoid all cancers, cardiovascular diseases, alzheimer's etc., etc., you're actually doing more harm than good. You make people think you're a fanatic and they will tune you out...
.. This kind of statement is good and accurate science, but it's lousy for headlines and building a Youtube following.
I assure you I was shadow-banned there (lichess.org btw) without linking any shady sites, and remain so to this very day on that same account (which I won’t name here). Lots of censorship and other nonsense on various online forums these days, to the extent that finding one that isn’t heavily biased or censorious and has a decent userbase is a rare and pleasant find (kudos to the mods & admin here for bucking the trend).DirtyDishSoap wrote: I mean... No magical cure yet, but there is at least some evidence that controlling blood sugar can help control Alzheimers.KoolBak wrote:Post a real study where you magically cure dementia.
About 6 pages of complex analysis which I won't bother plagiarizing, but if you're interested, it's worth a read. The exact connection between Alzheimer’s disease (AD) and type 2 diabetes is still in debate. However, poorly controlled blood sugar may increase the risk of developing Alzheimer’s. This relationship is so strong that some have called Alzheimer’s “diabetes of the brain” or “type 3 diabetes (T3D)”.
The relationship between T3DM and AD is based on the fact that both the processing of AβPP and the clearance of Aβ are attributed to impaired insulin signaling in the brain
(...)
While the specific mechanisms between AD and all forms of diabetes remain convoluted and unclear, which subsequently may have devastating socioeconomic impacts on public health and healthcare systems, T3D has the potential to provide a plethora of proactive and therapeutic strategies to current patients. For now, it seems that the testing of more anti-T3D drugs with beneficial effects against cognitive impairment has a certain promising future.
