The Jews have been given land, nearly all in a desert, and turned it into an oasis and a modern country. What did the Arab and Muslim population do with most of the land before the Jews? Not much.
What is the government in Israel now and then? A democracy. What about the Muslim and Bedouin and Arab populations? A kingdom and a dictatorship with NO free elections in Gaza since 2007. (I have discussed Gaza single election for Hamas already) in this thread.

Catholicism is merely a doctrine of Christianity, I thought you might have known this.HitRed wrote:Catholickennyp72 wrote:What other religion has a country of its own?jusplay4fun wrote:Are you saying that the Jews do not deserve a place, a land, a country, to call their own?saxitoxin wrote:End the occupation from 1948.jusplay4fun wrote:Free the Hostages from October 7.

Vatican City is a landlocked, independent, and enclaved country that is ruled by the Pope and the Holy See. It has a small area, population, and economy, but it is rich in religious and cultural heritage.

I presume you are looking for a case where people have been displaced for not being true followers. One might suggest Islam has a few countries like that. Pakistan for example. I suspect there were, some people who had to move from homes their families had owned for generations, when that territory formalized as a country.kennyp72 wrote:

Saudi Arabia is a Sunni Muslim theocracy.
Iran is a Shiite Muslim theocracy.
Several other Arab countries, like Quatar and Yemen, are near-theocracies.
Several non-Arab countries are officially Islamic also, such as Pakistan and Malaysia.
(Altogether, there are 27 nations that officially proclaim themselves "Islamic". Twenty-seven!)
Bhutan, Cambodia, and Laos are all Buddhist nations.
A number of European nations have official churches even if their religion is not enforced -- Lutheranism in Denmark and Sweden, Anglicanism in England.
And of course the Vatican, as HR noted.
Some nations, such as Zambia, officially declare themselves to be "Christian" without specifying which Christian sect they adhere to.
Altogether, something like 50 nations are officially consecrated to a specific religion.

The history of Cambodia is muddled due to the destruction of records by successive invaders. It does seem from what I've read, however, that the kings of Cambodia became Buddhist and proclaimed Buddhist kingdoms while most of the population was still Hindu. Furthermore, the decline of the Hindu majority was definitely accelerated by heavy (and quite intentional) immigration from Buddhist Vietnam during the 18th and 19th centuries, and by the infiltration of colonial Christian missionaries.saxitoxin wrote:Dukasaur wrote:Tons of them.kennyp72 wrote:What other religion has a country of its own?jusplay4fun wrote:Are you saying that the Jews do not deserve a place, a land, a country, to call their own?saxitoxin wrote:End the occupation from 1948.jusplay4fun wrote:Free the Hostages from October 7.

The difference, of course, is that in each of these modern cases the state religion was declared recognizing the reality of what already existed. The modern Cambodian state declared itself a Buddhist kingdom at a time when 95% of its population was, in fact, Buddhist.
It didn't declare itself a Buddhist kingdom when 95% of its population was Lutheran and then import a ton of wealthy Buddhists from California and New York to displace the Lutherans.
With the scientific method we could certainly test it. The main thing we would try to establish early on is 'is he aware he is making this up, or are these actual hallucination (putting aside the issue of the potential divinity of the hallucinations for later testing). I'd start with a series of lie detector tests mostly to set some baselines to compare against later. Then we'd move towards antipsychotic meds (only ones approved for use by the Vatican) and look to measure his responses and to see if the hallucinations persist.ConfederateSS wrote:-------Can you prove GOD isn't talking to him...DDS???...DirtyDishSoap wrote:Maybe we should let this unfold a little bit before we start making really stupid comments?
