I am unable to read the title of the thread, and am so bullheaded that I refuse to listen when people advise me not to threadjack.

What I don't understand is why is ALL stormtrooper armor white? On hoth, it makes sense. In space, it doesn't matter, so whatever. But for crying out loud, fighting in the forest wearing white. They might as well paint targets on their chests.

Same reason our guys in Mogadishu removed their balistics plates and left alot of their gear back at base, overconfidance.

ok I have been away for a while, but I would just like to point out that Picard was NOT the pilot of the Enterprise in any of it's incarnations he was the Captain! Miles O'brein was the battle bridge flight controller in TNG.

Still, did you fail to notice that the defenses of the Death Star were made to repel "Large Scale Assaults"? How is a 600-meter piece of sixth-rate abstract art not going to get mauled by thousands of turbolasers, which if you watch the films, were firing at rates of three shots a second? And each shot being thousands of times more powerful than the piddling Photon Torpedos the E-D carries?

On a side note, who allows civilians, children included, onboard ships that very well could be called into battle at a moments notice? Only the same oppressive government that stiffled capitalism, independant press and designed ships that will explode if you so much as sneeze in the engine room.

... Interesting side note, there, Jenos. I've often wondered the same thing. Remember DS9, the pilot episode, wherein Cisco loses his wife (who is aboard his ship) as they fight the Borg?

... All I can think of is some manner of throwback to the days of the Civil War, when families traveled with the armies - with their husbands and fathers.... Only, you probably wouldn't have seen too many of them standing around Little Round Top in Gettysburg on the 3rd of July, 1863.

If you count Jar Jar's accent as Caribbean, that's about as racist as it gets. Who wants the grinning idiot as a member of their ethnic group? If he had a Midwest non-accent, I'd have moved to the Bronx, just to avoid being associated with him.

I mean, the ewoks were in their home territory, with ambushes prepared. The storm troopers were not quite as prepared for guerrilla warfare as they might have thought. So in most battles, I think a ewok would be worth less the 1/2 a stormtrooper.

Given how ROTJ was released long before the events of Mog in the early ninities, yeah.

I think this is something like the 1st rule of Warfare (Never get involved in a Land war in Asia). Don't fight someone on their own turf, unless you really know what your doing. If the little guy ever wins (which isn't often in real life) it's because he's smarter and has home field advantage. So, it could be Viet Nam, or it could be Afghanistan, or the British in the colonies, or Mogadishu or the Germans in Russia, or the French at Agincourt. (oh, wait, never mind, that's totally different.)

I don't know if you could say Lucas isn't that deep. Episodes 4-6 did a fairly good job of making Lucas' Buddhism palatable for the general public.

There was a petition that went around recently on St. Vincent (small island near the south end) they wanted a "talk like Jar Jar day", there was a riot and most of the people in the pro holiday group died. We take offense to the comparison
