There are certainly third-party, some has special win objectives that's stated in the post.

But I assure you, I'm not a mafia member. I wouldn't be that stupid if I was. But I am definitely scum. I got 15 years for arson. If I'm not considered scum, I don't know who is. Just so you know, I'm innocent of those charges. I was in Portland at the time, torching police cars. Oops

"Scum" and "Mafia" are interchangeable terms for the faction that is opposed to "Town". There may also be Cults, or 3rd party players as well.

Saying "But I am definitely scum." could just be a mistake by an inexperienced player, or it could be a Freudian slip, or it could be an attempt to deflect from an earlier mistake. In any case, it doesn't look good.
