I am not surprised that you do not get the flu vaccine. I still question your CBA.
I have felt from the start that COVID is a really bad "flu like" disease; it does have major consequences for those with one or more of several underlying health issues. There are also some cases of "long haulers" who come down with a very virulent type that affects them for months and can have major life consequences. The seasonal flu does not have such long-term impacts and has not killed to this extent as COVID. To me, those are 2 good reasons to get the COVID vaccine. And since this is a NOVEL (i.e., NEW) virus, there may be some other impacts that we do not know about, although I will concede the odds of THAT are rather small, in all likelihood.
I had assumed that you will not get the vaccine, under MOST likely scenarios. And that, of course, is you prerogative. America is still a free country. As stated already, I still find your CBA lacking. I think that if you have gotten 1-2 cases of a bad flu that you would get the flu vaccine. Being exposed to lots of different people each work day also impacted my decision to get the flu vaccine.
It is my hope that we have seen the worst of COVID and that humans are developing an natural immune response, as happened over history. The vaccines hasten that immunity response; i.e., we get to herd immunity (or a good approximation of it) faster.
How COVID was handled, and the wisdom of shutting down the countries and the CBA of the impacts of the shut-downs in nearly all countries will be the subject of much debate and discussion for a while. At this point, there seems to be wisdom in the attempt to "Flatten the Curve" by the Trump Administration. I think, however that we were mislead on how long this flattening would take. I recall VP Pence talking about the 15 day plan to "Flatten the Curve."
Trump's 15-day plan to slow the coronavirus' spread is too short, experts say. Flattening the curve could take at least several more weeks.
