The first swath of those being vaccinated are dropping like flies from potentially deadly reactions to the vaccine if they have allergies.

Biden has pledged to be vaccinated on live TV. He's also a frail 82 year old man with a history of asthma that's so severe he was excused from the draft. So this all sounds fine to me.

Britain’s medicine regulator has advised that people with a history of allergies do not get Pfizer-BioNTech’s COVID-19 vaccine after people reported adverse reactions on the first day of rollout.

The new MHRA guidance, sent out to health professionals, said a much broader segment should not take the vaccine.

“Any person with a history of a significant allergic reaction to a vaccine, medicine or food (such as previous history of anaphylactoid reaction or those who have been advised to carry an adrenaline autoinjector) should not receive the Pfizer BioNtech vaccine,” it said.

It also said resuscitation facilities should be available for all vaccinations.

Also, are they really dropping like flies? Flies normally flop over onto their back in their death throes, but mammals tend to curl up into a foetal position. I just don't want to have a false mental picture of what is happening.

I'm getting the vaccine as soon as it is available. Sure there is a risk, but in my universe science and medicine actually work for the improvement of lives, and will do their best to "do no harm." I see no proof of nor motive for a conspiracy of some elite to use vaccines to somehow gain control ( or whatever it is they are conspiring to do) of the masses.

I 100% support you getting the vaccine as soon as it is available. In fact, I support as many people as possible - other than myself - getting the vaccine ASAP.

Now, if Covid had a higher mortality rate I'd hit you over the head and climb over your unconscious body to be first, however, with a >0.5% mortality rate, I'm totally content to let you and Sleepy Joe be at the head of the queue.

To be clear, everyone who is going to be vaccinated beginning next week are actually test subjects in a Phase 4 trial. Many drugs, developed on longer timelines than this, have been recalled after FDA approval when issues emerged after they were distributed to a wider population.

No matter how many patients are studied pre-marketing in a controlled environment, the true safety profile of a drug is characterized only by continuing safety surveillance through a spontaneous adverse event monitoring system and a post-marketing surveillance/non-interventional study. The popular notion is that drugs are thoroughly studied before they are marketed, so that everything about the drug is known the time of launch. Few realize that while enough is known the time of launch to avoid calamities, catastrophes and disasters, a lot of the thorough knowledge that we have about well-established products is obtained after the drug has been marketed and hundreds of thousands of patients have been exposed to the product through commercial sales.

Let’s say 20 years from now you develop a lung issue and your personal doctor suggests you finally take it.
Let’s say we’ve got 20 years of data that shows it to be effective and harmless.

It’s perfectly reasonable to want to wait a bit and see if a larger population has any serious negative results.

I am not in any higher risk group so I won’t have access to the vaccine till April? (who knows exactly). So to me I’m happy to chill and let the process play out and see what the data says in 3-6 months. By then we’ll know which vaccine is most effective, which is safest and/or has few at side effects, etc.

Isn’t Covid’s mortality rate pretty high for octogenarian’s like yourself?

I’m not saying we shouldn’t watch this... but...

4 out of 30,000... only 3 of which got the vaccine.
So one of the four people who contracted Bell’s Palsy got placebo.

While there was a small imbalance of cases in the vaccine group compared with the placebo, the FDA said it’s not certain whether the drug contributed to the paralysis “because the number of cases was small and not more frequent than expected in the general population.”

3/15,000 = 0.02%

(15,000 assume half got vaccine and half got placebo... if you use 30,000 it’s an even lower number.)

23/100,000 = 0.023%

So depending on which study you’re looking at... in one case the number was slightly LOWER than occurrence in the general population; and in the other study it was slightly HIGHER.

in neither trial has it been statistically significant.

Again... the doctors watch it... the media reports it...people choose to misinterpret it.

A Tennessee nurse confidently became the first woman to take the vaccine in that state on live TV ... ten minutes after the injection, she gave an interview ... uh oh...

There is no confirmation as to whether or not she's still alive.
