I believe it has been ruled before that if you can not win a game, then you should not throw the game and make sure your tribe mate wins.

How can you not anticipate that by making multiplayer games that can incluse players with a common goal set by you guys that they would work towards it?
You really need to set up an ethics commity regarding everything tournament+multiplayer games related. A game will never be more important than the tournament you register for.
