Congrats on Joe Biden! USA's 46th president

Postby betiko on Tue Jun 16, 2020 2:06 pm

So we all know now for certain that Joe Biden has won the 2020 elections by a landslide.
The loser is no more, and I guess that he's a few month away from being a normal citizen... the FBI will be asking for a bit of payback to uncle Joe. Lol can you imagine Trump's life right now? coronavirus, protests, everybody hates him, Melania is dying to divorce him but probably has to wait for the end of his term... and then all the shit storms he's been dodging just because of the presidential inmunity that are going to slap him in the face! lol so funny.
The witch is dead! the witch is dead!

I mean, poor saxi, poor karel, poor.... (insert names of forgotten OT idiots)

If there's a candidate capable of losing to Trump at this point, it's Joe Biden

True statement ! Oprah should’ve been the democrats candidate. A black woman that gives her audience cars will always get better ratings that the apprentice. Trump wouldn’t have standed a chance.

Joke aside... it’s sad but true. That’s what works in today’s America apparently. If Oprah wanted to become president, she would.

Doesn't she have some bat shit religious views? I don't think she's so much as a shoo-in as you think. The thing about somebody like Opera is that she has a pure public perception. Few people have ever had a motive to throw mud at her, she has a patina about her. Trump has a 40 year public image as a dick, so turning him into a mud monster didn't really hurt him.

I disagree.

While I don't think being a public personality would help you once you've been elected I think Oprah would win in a landslide against trump (I would argue against anyone in either party, even Michelle Obama). I think back to Schwarzenegger in CA being elected easily as Governor and being mostly ineffective. He had no experience, just political backing financially and name recognition.

So many potential voters don't give a f*ck about politics, but would show up an vote for someone like Oprah. I think Trump had a big bump through the primary season in 15/16 partially because he's the walking definition of a pedagogue, but also because people who normally don't care about politics showed up to vote for him. Same with the general election. I feel like Oprah could coast to victory without ever even committing to specific policies.

It's a fun subject to debate about though!

Why, what would change?

Anyway, the OP is 100% going to happen. There is no way Donald Trump can beat Hillary Rodham Clinton Joe Biden.

In this hypothetical are we giving Canadians the ability to vote in US elections? If so even larger landslide for Oprah.

I'm fine not having a vote. Oprah is nice and maybe she is better than Trump but if Joe is currently their best guy, I don't think the democrat party can run the country.

Are we going to be granted statehood like Hawaii and get to vote if our prime minister breaks our country? Or will we just be a territory like Puerto Rico?

Alberta would have an opportunity to be the 51st state, but the rest of the country would gain status somewhere between Puerto Rico and Guam on the totem pole.

I'm guessing if they are accepting Alberta, the whole Alaskan highway would be included.

We can anchluss quebec and put celine dion for governor. Then we could teach people from quebec how to pronounce sounds as normal humans.

Kaybec can go back to being the country they were trying to be before England showed up. Best beaver pelts in the world.

I just caught this browser trying to change Kaybec to "maybe" after I almost finished the sentence.

And why did you change your avatar to a convicted sexual assaulting felon? Really doesn't give anything you say much credibility.....

Right now I’d bet on Biden... not because I want him, but because there are only 2 real choices.
It’s very sad when both options suck so badly.
That said I think Joe sucks less, so...

I don’t think Joe’s gonna win because I want him to win, and I think it’s early and the situation could still change.

Low probability but something bad could come out on Joe... or shit, he’s old he could get sick.
Barring that... it’s coming down to the combination of...

Economy / “Mood” of Country Re. Covid & BLM
Mostly the economy... which impacts the others...

If Covid tappers off and the economy bounces back, even moderately... Trump may still win.
If Covid lingers but at low levels, and we get another bill which helps prop people up economically (even though it’s temporary)... Trump may still win.

If the Economy continues to tank and we get a more severe 2nd round of Covid... it’s likely Trump loses.

BLM can impact the mood on the fringe if things are close... but BLM can be used by Trump to help fire up his base.

There’s also the prospect that Trump could steal the election... between BLM firing up his base and lockdowns preventing people from voting / confusing people about the process... I would be disappointed but not shocked is Trump was able to steal a few key States. That’s only possible if it’s close.

All said... if I’m a betting man I think the mood and economy are working against Trump... but I admit my ‘mood meter’ is limited to the Northeast.
Even here (in ultra-liberal Massachusetts) there is a strong minority who are so in-the-bag for Trump and aren’t blaming him for economic issues. They’re blaming the liberals for “shutting us down” and think Trump is working for them to reopen. There are still people who think all this “Covid stuff is fake news”. History tells us it’s the economy though... and incumbents win if the economy is good... what counts as “good” maybe has changed.

At this point I want Trump to win.

They've opened the floodgates on the money mills. They're printing worthless money at an astonishing rate. They'll probably be able to keep the Ponzi scheme going for another year or two, at which point whoever is in office will take the blame for Trump's actions. I don't think anyone deserves that. I want Trump to be in office to take the heat for the mess he has created.

Yeah it's starting to look like Obama having to take over a crumbling economy for Bush...

I think Trump wants power at any cost, but most of the republicans in congress have made the calculation it's better to punt right now and get 'amazing field position' as they don't want to own the very difficult few years ahead of us.

Doctor Cliff huxtable is a respected father, doctor, husband and did a lot for the black middle class. He was never convicted of any sexual assalt, unless ou can prove me otherwise by pointing at the episode.

Regarding the voting, it's not going to change much if I vote or not, given that Trumpet has already lost. And lol.. if I remember correctly... you vote in .... Oregon        like he's got a slim chance of anything there! suck it up! eat 4 years of Joey

honestly... I don't even know how the world economy is still so high... the crisis comming up is going to be far worse than 2008. I guess stuff will plumet by early 2021... but in this worldwide economy, the impact will be massive everywhere as we all depend on each other.

And yes, Joey totally sucks. But at least he's not a Dawning-Kruger retardedclown. Bring a cape to Trump and I'm pretty sure he'd be convinced he's able to fly. And that a lot of americans would believe that. You can recognize a moron because they dare anything.

the worse part is that if trump remains in office he will always find a scapegoat to blame and fire. Nothing is ever his fault even though he's the commander in chief. but yeah... joey will get hammered, because the real economical crisis hasn't started yet, and it will be violent.

Well... if he wins (Trump) he's never going to be in any election ever again... He will either lose power in 4 years (that will almost certainly be worse then the last 4 year) and after that he will either ride off into sunset or try something crazy revolutionary type of thing to retain power like all his dictator buddies have done in their countries. I think most people find this idea incredulous, but I think there is good chance he would try something like this... what is unclear is would he have support amongst republicans in the gov't. I feel like anything is 'on the table' as a possibility with him.

If I was an oddsmaker my odds today would be 60% biden wins, 40% chance trump wins. but i think that will flop back in Trumps direction in the coming months.

I think Biden would be a good president personally. I think what he really needs to do is basically promise like 6-7 of the people he ran in the primary against into positions within his gov't and have them campaign for him. Basically do a 'superfriends' type of election strategy so people that aren't passionate about him, but can get really excited about voting for warren as the VP, or Klobuchar as DOJ head, buttigeg in there somewhere and Yang as health and human services director ect ect...\ get those people excited to come out and vote. Not sure how Bernie would fit in, but he could easily find a home for everyone else and just send the message that if you think Biden is too ' Old, white, moderate, whatever' well, he has a strong team around him unlike the donald who will employ anyone who will take the job and then spit on them and call them stupid after they quit or get fired.

I'd also just add... anyone who feels Trump has 'no chance' in this election because of polls... Hillary was up by 10-12 pts in some polls this week in 2016.
