risk master2000 wrote: thats funny because I have not got a premium yet mostly because of no speed games why do I want to have 20 games where everyone takes 24 hours to make a move and last the better part of a month when it sucks enough with 4 doing that, my brother is right you are a jerk off go spam some where else or keep on topic

that makes no sense at all, if you buy premium you can join enough games so that even if people do take 24 hours you always get a go. and this is general discussion and i was talking about updates, you flamed so it is you that needs to move topic/forum. What you say not only makes no sense but has no point. well done.

meh. I'm premium(free premium! :D ) and i'm not sure whether I'd agree with you there. On one hand, it could be taken advantage of, but there really is nothing to stop a few people getting together and doing a bunch of repeated rt games to achieve the same effect. But then again it is lack's site and income so it's really up to him whether or not to be a cheapskate(jk  ) and make speed games a premium perk.

O and in response to your comment on $20 being a measly fee: "measly" is a relative term. I'm currently saving up for college expenses and I need to hoard every last penny. Don't know how many others are in the same situation but 20$ may not be so measly for everyone. Personally I had to get my premium in......erm...unconventional methods.

P.S. I will be getting a laptop. Part of those college expenses I mentioned.

Seriously, I agree with Alex here. Pay $20 bucks for a whole year. So what you miss on 1 movie night with you and your girlfriend, Or 2 movie nights if you are lucky enough to be single (cough... dont tell my gf) and you get a whole year of entertainment.

Option 2: Kick some major butt on CC and get into the 2000+ club. Scott-Land makes rt games all of the time. And they are great.

Also, what if you get stuck joining some knuckleheads 15 minute turn game and someone leaves. You're going to wait through 5 other peoples 5-10 minute turns 3 times over and 15 for the deadbeat. If you get distracted or something (i get munchies occasionally and end up lost somewhere) come back 40 minutes later to realize you missed your own turn. Sounds kind of crappy. Dont forget about those NO CARD games we all accidentally join on occasion. Who doesnt want to be at their computer for 1800 minutes (30 hours) waiting for 6 people (includes oneself) to go every 5 minutes for 60 rounds?

I guess if you really want speed games it would have to be default settings of escalating cards. Then it might work assuming no one deadbeats for the entire 1hrs -2hrs it takes for these kind of games to end, excluding W2.0. Otherwise, (assuming flat rate or no cards) I personally think anything less then 12 hours is a stupid idea. Even 12 hours, does that really make much of a difference from 24?

Another question (sorry Im just full of stupid questions tonight, guess IM just bored since none of my games have turns yet) What if you create a 15 minute game. You are waiting 1 hour for people to join. Realize, that you are supposed to meet a friend for lunch (forget about your game) come back only to see that you just lost a game and have 5 people pissed at you for making the game.

Ya you can add confirmations, add select your own color, dynamic territories, and all that other stuff (might as well as make it an MMO or something) or keep it simple like 'Risk' is supposed to be. Have some cool new maps, maybe 8 player games or more if the map can support it, maybe add additional card bonus options and keep the site simple. I dont want to have to check 30 different boxes just to find/make the game I want.
All fun in games until somebody gets hurt haha.

real time would make the game like real risk lol duhhh how many real risk games take 24 hours a turn I think all you pweople that have money to pay and do as you please with lack the understanding on what those of us that are broke are going thru it is a struggle to keep the internet on and eat each month but I need it for work and school I do not get movie nights I get to download a new movie torrent because my family cannot afford to go out att this time but this is a reality of the poor and while i am blessed enough to have a computer and internet my laptop was bought with funds from my student loans that were allocated specifically for a computer but again those that may have amore privleged living enviroment or less financial burdens such as rent kids school and food for a household and not just self probably will not grasp any of this...

Im not sure but..

Postby Darwinius on Sun Jun 17, 2007 8:53 pm

Im not sure (if it's already mentioned in somewhere in this forum) but...

Is there a way for us to have players who have been inactive for, say 3 days, etcetera to be automatically eliminated and replaced by 3 neutral units per land that player owned? Some kind of gamemaker option to make it less annoying to wait for one inactive player.. Yeah, games can extend to 10 months (i saw somewhere) but as long as all the players are active, that'd be fine... =| perhaps a vote for this idea??

"Should we have certain # of skip turn limits before that user is automatically eliminated?"

Players already get kicked out of games for missing three turns and their armies are replaced with neutrals.

I myself wouldn't mind a simple update to the PM system. As a tournament organizer it would be nice to send the same PM to multiple players with the click of a button. That's my vote. I know AK told me this was being looked into though, so I'm hoping it makes its way here soon. :D

We definitely need to have some sort of restriction for this speed game option if it is in the upcoming update. Problem with it open to everyone is that people new to the site may join these games without knowing what they've gotten themselves into, which could be taken advantage of by more experienced players.

that is senseless unless the person is a complete idiot that cannot read they will understand how to play. If anything it will level the playing field against those who use timing in freestyle or drag games to the last hour which bores away new people expecting to actually play...

Army Color Alteration/Choose Army Color At Start
>>>i hope u mean choose out of the 6 available colours, cuz i dont want to see 6 shades of purple in a game!

More Individual User Stats
>>>i would like to see my record on each map, by game type, and record with/against players

More Game Types I.E. Castle/Capital, Diplomacy, Missions etc...
>>>missions wouldn't be such a good idea as they wont be identical, making it unfair since some would be easier. i like capital, as long as u can select, which would make the whole idea harder to implement

No Points For New Recruit Deadbeats
>>>hmm, it is unfair when people get deadbeat points, but the deadbeats would have to lose the points as punishment.

Random Map/Game Button
>>>why not

Speed Games / Varying Turn Time Limits
>>>LOVE IT! make an option for 15 minute turns to keep an rt, RT!! but it was a good point that sometimes it takes longer

8 Player Games /4 Vs. 4 Option/2 Person Play Option
>>>i dunno, most maps arent big enough to accommodate that many players so that each player has a decent amount of territories to start with! its still an ok idea. why not 9 player, 3 triples team games?

More Card Options-Escalate limit, Escalating +1/Player Specific Cash Ins, Fixed Flat Rate, Mission Cards, Wild Cards
>>>like the wild card, just like the real game!! how bout individual escalating where each person cashes in 4 then 6 then 8...so there is no waiting for cashes. +1 is ok too

Deliberately Missing Turns Change/Random/Even Army Deployment On Missed Turn, No Overlapping Freestyle Turns
>>>dont like these. missing turns may be a strategy, so if u select the miss a turn button after 1hour, they know ur strategizing rather than maybe being considered a deadbeat.
>>>even troop deployment, bad because you may want the double men next turn.
>>and the whole point of freestyle is overlap, thats why people play it!!

Initial Troop Deployment
>>>how long would that take!!

Skip Turn Option
>>>as above, dont like these. missing turns may be a strategy, so if u select the miss a turn button after 1hour, they know ur strategizing rather than maybe being considered a deadbeat.

WHAT I WOULD LIKE TO SEE?!
>>>i would love to sort the scoreboard by win percentage, feedback and country, because i want to find countrymen to play with, people with the best record, dont want to play with high negative feedback ppl. also, u should attribute the number (ranking) to the player. say on the scoreboard i am ranked 400th, if i type my name into the search, i become number 1 as i am first and only on the list.

>>>dice, like auto-attack, but selecting how many rolls or how many willing to lose

>>>friends list good, with online/offline

>>>also, in game search, it would be cool to be able to find games with certain ranks. maybe even make game option where low or high ranks cant join.
