This is the Deer Lounge area behind my house. There are always fresh signs that deer have been hanging out there. Pine straw beds and tree rubbings.

Yeah, it was a good birthday. Mrs Quirk stayed in a good mood all day so no worries.

The Deer Lounge has been there year round for the nine years that I've lived in this house. The lower limbs of the pine trees stay broken off so it's easy to access. During the dark years when Mrs Q was off her meds I used to use it as a sanctuary to make calls or get a moment of peace. I've never actually seen a deer there but like I said there are always signs they've recently been there. I see them around the quince tree in my front yard a lot.

Good to read your day went well.

My wife won't eat game which I find a bit strange because she is quite the carnivore. Then again she typically refuses left overs or anything that is not hot enough. Never been hungry and was only poor for a brief time after luring me into the ring. If she bakes cookies, something that happens too often, once they cool off she pawns the rest off on someone else.

Anyway, I suppose I don't have any great deer recipes. We had pork ribs last evening. I had one that smelled a bit off. I still ate it. Tasted ok.

Off to google quince tree.

Huh, they are compared to a pear but are not a pear or Apple. Used to make a firm jelly that can be sliced so they call it cheese.

Power out due to wildfires. Trying to catch up on things in the library - bad timing with various financial and other things going on re house move, but better I guess than having your house burn down.
