Obviously any gross abuse of the game is forbidden. This includes but is not limited to: throwing games or deliberately benefiting from thrown games, intentional deadbeating,
holding players hostage, serial teammate killing, hijacking accounts, systematically "farming" new recruits and colluding with other players in any way to manipulate the scoring system.
You can splash the page with red ink all you want, but in the end your histrionics won't change the fact that these things are opposites.IcePack wrote:Donelladan wrote:IcePack, deadbeating and resigning are two different things for a simple reason. both are quitting the game, you can justify / excuse whatever behavior you like in your mind.
If your opponent resigns, the game is over and you can do something else. you can always do that once you win the game you just want to win before you have won
If your opponent deadbeats you have to stay and wait patiently until your opponent misses 3 turns.
I hope you can appreciate the difference. its no different, you can tell yourself otherwise tho if it makes you feel better
What about games that do not have the Resign Button?Dukasaur wrote:You can splash the page with red ink all you want, but in the end your histrionics won't change the fact that these things are opposites.IcePack wrote:Donelladan wrote:IcePack, deadbeating and resigning are two different things for a simple reason. both are quitting the game, you can justify / excuse whatever behavior you like in your mind.

Resigning SAVES TIME for your opponent.
Deadbeating WASTES TIME for your opponent.
They are exact diametric opposites.
I used to play serious chess in my younger days, and in serious chess it's considered incredibly rude to piss around and drag things out instead of resigning as soon as its obvious that your position is untenable. People have better things to do with their time than sitting around playing a game that's already decided.

The continued comparison to chess is utter BS. Chess is not risk. Risk is not chess. Two equally skilled people in chess can draw / stalemate with some regularity. Risk involves dice. Dice involves a measure of luck. Not something that chess draws its game from.Dukasaur wrote:You can splash the page with red ink all you want, but in the end your histrionics won't change the fact that these things are opposites.IcePack wrote:Donelladan wrote:IcePack, deadbeating and resigning are two different things for a simple reason. both are quitting the game, you can justify / excuse whatever behavior you like in your mind.

i do and it is under current guidelines of this rule ill go one step and put it direct as i can to announce in a game i db is breaking the rules .....when members such as evil semp and Silly Knig-it both admit it stops them from joining speed games and that just 2 of many we have to take a stand .. when its come to a 50 percent of speed games with a db or in some cases 3 out of 6 db we have to take a stand ....again ill take sites head mod s opinion vs yours any dayJdsizzleslice wrote:Let's talk about this very plainly:zeus111 wrote:its right in the rules u just linked ....no intentional dead beating ....

Where is the gross abuse of the game? Do you honestly believe that someone who has taken turns at the start of the game, and through the events of the game, decides that there is no possible way they will win the game, and that a faster way to end the game is to DB, is in violation of site rules?
- throwing games - referring to games where you cause you (and potentially others) to lose on purpose with intent.
- intentional deadbeating - joining games with the intent to never play a turn. This cannot be represented by just one game.
I sure hope you do not.
i know the feeling ...to put it simple join a game finish a game is that so much to ask for ...the site rules dont ask for much really they dont...this type of mentality is how we got to a 50 percent db rate in speed games ...Jdsizzleslice wrote:
I am wondering where did you find this interpretation of intentional deadbeating. This is not the current interpretation by the C&A mods.Jdsizzleslice wrote:intentional deadbeating - joining games with the intent to never play a turn. This cannot be represented by just one game.
Well I actually argued the exact same thing before we had a resign button for trench games, and I was told that yes indeed it's still a violation of the site rules.Jdsizzleslice wrote: Where is the gross abuse of the game? I can bring up just as many examples of where it was faster to db than to finish the game. It's just that your experience has been that db isn't faster, while my experience is that it is much faster when the game has been decided.Donelladan wrote:Well I actually argued the exact same thing before we had a resign button for trench games, and I was told that yes indeed it's still a violation of the site rules.Jdsizzleslice wrote: Where is the gross abuse of the game? We are now in a different situation thanks to the resign button.
So for no trench game, it's extremely rare that it is faster to deadbeat than to finish the games. Except Hive and USA2.1 I don't think there is many maps you can't clean within 3 turns if the game is over for one player.
I can take dozens of examples easily in my finished speed games where my opponent just quit a no trench speed game and I was able to finish in 2 turns or would have in 3 easily.
Consider most speed games are played on small maps, but players still prefer to deadbeat, actual reason is they don't give a shit about their opponent waiting alone for the game to finish.
So, if your point was people deadbeat because it's faster than finishing the games, what do yo do of all the other games that are deadbeated ( vast majority) while it's actually NOT faster to deadbeat ?
u seem to forget that is not permitted to db man ..until that changes do we not have to follow site rules ?? or just follow the ones we agree with ...Jdsizzleslice wrote:I can bring up just as many examples of where it was faster to db than to finish the game. If you wanna talk opposites at least have an honest fucking conversation about it and stop with this horse shit of a comparison.
If people wanted to play chess, they’d be on a fucking chess site.
It's not within my power to do anything about that.Jdsizzleslice wrote: What about games that do not have the Resign Button?
Please go ahead. Really curious. You can pm me if you prefer.Jdsizzleslice wrote:

I strongly disagree. Some of the best moments from a board game can come from moments after, giant swings of luck. Banter. Debate. Reiminising as the time winds down.Dukasaur wrote:Whether you're playing Risk, Chess, Monopoly, Parcheesi, Alpha Centauri, Donkey Kong, Poker, Whist, Horseshoes, Football, Hockey, Ping-Pong, or Ker-Plunk....
.... a game is only interesting as long as the outcome is in doubt. As soon as the winner is certain, all participants rapidly get bored, and any further time spent is just an annoyance.
Any game that forces you to keep playing after the winner is certain, is a game with a design flaw. Period. That's pretty straightforward and honest.

No, KB, you're talking apples to my oranges.KoolBak wrote:Yeah, Duk o death....i hafta disagree too. If my father felt that way, I'd never be the ping pong player I am today. How does someone learn if they don't play with someone better?? Also with me and my boys....i still can easily beat them in ping pong, horseshoes, pool, dirt bike riding....but I thoroughly enjoy teaching them and watching them improve.

So much for playing always till the end yeah.
You've barely played 10 trench speed games since the resign button been implemented but resigned 2. ( you've won the others otherwise I guess I'd have more examples).
But nooooo no one should ever resign a risk game.
A big one, it's no secret. Welcome to the club.Donelladan wrote:How much of an hypocrite are you IcePack ?
