Yeah, I've only heard bad things about that. As well as turning Captain America into a Hydra agent.Symmetry wrote:On an actual comic book side note, did anyone read Marvel Civil War 2? If you haven't, don't.
Weirdly enough, or maybe not so weirdly, I've been reading a bunch of the comics where they changed the heroes and made them women. Wolverine, Captain Marvel, and Gwenpool, specifically. I'm not sure how many are ongoing, but they are pretty awesome.muy_thaiguy wrote:Yeah, I've only heard bad things about that. That said, DC Rebirth has been awesome.
"Wolverine" has been female since death of Wolverine a few years back. Thor has also been female through then. I actually thought Captain Marvel was always female, turns out I was wrong; Carol Danvers was known as Ms. Marvel before.Symmetry wrote:Weirdly enough, or maybe not so weirdly, I've been reading a bunch of the comics where they changed the heroes and made them women. I'm not really enjoying the Watchmen stuff in DC Rebirth so far. But then again, I just paid to see The Dark Tower in my local cinema, so I'm not exactly the best judge of who will pay to see something they've read and loved re-created by idiots.
Or, you could not read the thread titled "Comics". So take your own advice and "Just stop it".Thorthoth wrote:Seriously discussing Marvel/DC comics isn't just geeky. It's tired played-out corporate-cash-in, reboot-ad-nauseum geeky. Just stop it.
Eh, other than a subtle hint here and there, there really hasn't been any direct references to the Watchmen. Most series, outside of Superman, Batman, and Flash, aren't even touching on it.Symmetry wrote:Weirdly enough, or maybe not so weirdly, I've been reading a bunch of the comics where they changed the heroes and made them women. Marvel continuity isn't really something anyone should get in to- at least one of the new Wolverine arcs has Old Man Wolverine in it, after all. I just go with the flow and try to ignore continuity with other series.DoomYoshi wrote:"Wolverine" has been female since death of Wolverine a few years back. Thor has also been female through then. I've probably spent less than $200 on comic books in my life. Averaged out, that's about 30 cents a month.Thorthoth wrote:

Do read them in the store? New comics are 3.99 a pop or so.Dukasaur wrote:I've probably spent less than $200 on comic books in my life. Averaged out, that's about 30 cents a month.Thorthoth wrote:

They were like 65 cents when I used to buy them as a kid.Thorthoth wrote:Do read them in the store? New comics are 3.99 a pop or so.Dukasaur wrote:I've probably spent less than $200 on comic books in my life. Averaged out, that's about 30 cents a month.Thorthoth wrote:

I get you, my question was more directed at the Symbo and associates.Dukasaur wrote:They were like 65 cents when I used to buy them as a kid.Thorthoth wrote:Do read them in the store? In my adult life, I've only bought three or four: a Calvin and Hobbes collection and a Gary Larsen collection, which cost me about 10 bucks each, and a couple copies of Mad magazine which I think cost me 4.99 each.
Oh, correction. I bought a couple of Spiderman comics at a used book sale for 10 cents each.

Of course it was.Thorthoth wrote:I get you, my question was more directed at the Symbo and associates.Dukasaur wrote:They were like 65 cents when I used to buy them as a kid.Thorthoth wrote:Do read them in the store?
