Treks Photon torpedos are really anti-matter missiles. Go the research. Better yet, go to Stardestroyer.net. They did all the research.

The Prequels are in a way written a lot like the old tragic plays of ancient Greece. Anakin is the tragic hero, doomed to become that evil that he is fighting to stop because of his hubris. However, the Original Trilogy is different in that it a redemptive play, the era of darkness ending and all wrongs being righted.

Having said that, Lucas needs to tell the rest of the story. The Expanded Universe does on occation a good job, but I want to see some on these events on the big sceen.

I want an Old Republic movie. I love the Old Republic's grandeur in decadence. Something about the Yuuzhan Vong might also make for a good horror film. Maybe the Yuuzhan Vong versus the Borg--they collide in some intermediate galaxy and a battle of the spookiest sci-fi species ensues.

That would be awesome on so many levels…

I remember opening day of Star Wars at Mann's Chinese. People coming out from the previous showing we're talking about getting back in line for later showings.
The place was packed as the only seating available was up around the third row. Mann's Chinese has a huge screen and huge speakers on the sides, so your head is basically looking at the ceiling when your looking at the screen.
When the rebel ship first appeared it was like "wow, this is going to be good". But when the imperial battle cruiser started filling the screen and the sound system cranked up, jaws we're dropping everywhere.

I want to see the Second Battle of Coruscant. And nix on the the Yuuzhan Vong. As for an Old Republic film, it MUST have mandalorians. And the Vong, as much as the idea of 'organic' ships and weapons strikes me as impossible, would (quite literally) eat the borg for breakfast.

I'll bet you never even bothered to pay stardestroyer.net a visit, did you? ''Oh, why bother, cause if I did I might have to admit I'm wrong. Yur stupid cuz u like jedi.'' That is how you sound when someone with very little patience and a bit of a meanstreak cuts through all the fluff and delievers the cold hard facts. I'm not going to get all childish, like you just did.

All I was saying is that the debate would be childish, because it would degenerate (as most debates) do into name calling and crying. I have been a Star Wars fan since 1996 (the year I first saw the movies). I was merely playing at being the devil's advocate when I advocated Trek over Wars. I will have you know that George Lucas never specifically discussed his laser physics they just did damage, so anything that you say is just speculation by other people. George Lucas has admitted that the light saber will probably never work in real life, therefore stop ragging on me when Gene Roddenberry (sp) actually tries to insert some real life physics into his work.

Trek has nothing resembling real physics. Period. And again, you prove my point. Not only did you not take one look at the site, you likely never will. And I've been a fan since I was eight, so there.

... Sometimes simple is good. Lasers do damage, nuff said.

.. I gotta tell you, Trek, man... I picked up the DS9 series and watched it through, over several days... without all the make-believe tech in that show, nothing would get done... about half the stories would just die. I don't mean space-flight and all that, but the CONSTANT reliance Trek has on fixing the inertial dampeners, or modifying the deflector array to achieve some spectacular feat necessary for everybody to survive. If not that, then probably a tachion field of some kind, or neutrino emissions will save the day.

... yawn ....

That, and compare the published stats on ships for both sides. The Slave I could kill the E-D a hundred times over.

Trek has way too much technobable, I like TOS better.

... Personally, I was a huge Firefly fan. Low-tech, great story.

... And Babylon 5 was low-budget (if high-tech) and absolutely the greatest SF ever aired on TV.
