Why would you call it stupid?
This game has been nothing less than massive gift to society. So what if there's the occasional problem? Nothing is perfect. But everything I'm reading about this is 95% good stuff and maybe 5% bad stuff. It would be a real shame if the bitch-bitch crowd managed to get this shut down.
- I'm hearing about huge benefits to health and fitness. One news program I was listening to said the people playing it are walking an average of six miles a day. Don't know how reliable that figure is, but if true it's HUGE. Even if the real figure is half of that, it's still a major benefit to health and fitness -- getting a bunch of people to walk three miles a day.
- I'm hearing about major social benefits. All kinds of nerds are getting out of the rec room and into public parks and stuff and actually interacting with live human beings other than their mom.
- I'm hearing about educational benefits. While they're in the parks waiting for their furry friends, they're reading historical plaques and studying architecture and seeing wildlife. One guy I was listening to on the radio last week was giving an enthusiastic rundown of all the museums and churches that he's discovered for the first time. Places in his own home town that were always there but he never noticed before.
