I agree with Rag's comment about dakky. Adding up the posts at this point in the game isn't helpful as most of the talk has been joking around. It's only turning serious on page 4.

I took BuJaber's comment about masons to be a joke. LSU did mention masons in the rules, but that could mean nothing. Would be crazy if Bu was scum and one of his buddies is a scum mason.

The FOS and vote on TWR are both weak. Scum usually doesn't come out and say "I'm going to be quiet so I don't get lynched today." Yeah, it's not good to make such a comment as it doesn't contribute to the discussion, but I don't think TWR just gave himself away by making such a comment.

Talapus puts me in a catch-22. I wasn't really intending to build a case on anyone at this point, but Talapus seems to think that if you're posting and not building a case (or something) then it's your turn in the corner.

I don't think that all on day one, unless something shines forth and merits a case. Later on in game than sure. But as you can see from the high quality posts I have so far you will see I'm not out to build any case Quite honestly I voted you because you used your own logic to cast a vote, but only followed through with half of your logic as another vote wasn't brought forth. So, best thing I've seen so far and thus you have my attention.

However if someone in here pushes the awesomeness of Bush, freedom fries, and declares repeatedly why the USA is so star spangled awesome then they would probably get my vote at this point because I think they are trying too hard and hiding something.

There was no logic to my first vote. It was just to bug BG (a joke vote). So I don't see how I didn't follow through with some logic I had started. I didn't vote BG because he is loud our quiet. All I had done was mention that talking D1 doesn't get you in trouble (BG's stated reason for clamming up D1) but often we run out of ideas really quickly and just go for who talks least.

Anyway, I too am surprised that Winston is playing - he never confirmed as far as I can tell, but I don't have time to double check that or anything. I just play by gut mostly as I don't have time to do real research.

I find it interesting how you first agree you did not help Town and then add a resounding BUT after after it, Then throw in some self depreciating humor to magnify your past mistakes that got you lynched.

Ok people, we are two days in with three to go until deadline. Unless someone at work rudely interrupts me with work, you can expect my first batch of conclusions in the next 14 hours. (or at least a post saying the the connection got interrupted, causing CC to log me out and deleting two f-ing pages of text again and I will re-write it once I'm done shaking with rage).

If anyone is feeling like they know my thinking well enough to be able to offer a preview, by all means do show off.

See, this is helpful! Granted it might be a tad subjective for others to follow, but a subtle change in meta is something you want on record. The votecount right after your post doesn't have you voting Mitch, though... What gives?

If all town players could state something along those lines, too, while scum and what not refrain from doing it, we should have this game sorted really quickly.

Post count is important. Maybe Dakky was bringing it up a little too soon, but a lot of the times it's a very good indicator. In real life you can maybe play it off as someone being shy. But in a forum? Who's shy about posting stuff on the internet? So the way I see it people who don't post much are either townies who are just clueless and/or not confident in themselves and afraid of being in the spotlight, or they're scum who don't want to attract attention to themselves and/or say something that gives them up.

D1 is a special case for sure. So I probably wouldn't vote an inactive player on D1, but if someone starts to show a pattern, then here's a FOS in advance.

TWR's defense is really strange. I'm not even sure you can call it a defense. I suppose he could have some sort of suicider role; but it's all rather sketchy. I can see a townie getting frustrated because people are voting to lynch him/her, but this kinda sounds like he's given up altogether.

I don't think anyone is arguing against the importance of post counting. I was saying, however, that offering up only a post count raises red flags with me because it's an easy way to appear helpful without having to commit.

I'm eager to hear Mandy's conclusions. So far, we've had mostly joking and the game's only begun to get half serious in the last day. For some reason, I'm expecting reads on subtle hints a la Storr.

I don't put too much into the dakky/mitch exchange. They always go after each other this early.

I'd rather go after those pressuring TWR rather than him for reasons previously stated.

While, I don't want to tempt fate, nor drawing the ire of the Great and All Powerful Mod, I don't feel like he'll impose a deadline of Tomorrow because there seems to be discussion, and it's a bit late to announce a deadline so short into the future. I think maybe a deadline of early next week to keep this thing from dragging.

It seems like we need to start building a consensus to move towards a claim, etc. etc. etc. and get to stuff that is actually actionable. So I've become a very lazy mafia player in my old age and since D1 is hard/luck I won't spend too much time digging deep into minutia of off-hand jokes to push a case.

Right now, I'd say there are two categories of people that have caught my interest:

Category 1: Non posters/D1 agnostics - BG, White Rose, WinstonTurqhill

BG - I was just trying to wind him up. Bringing in meta - he's playing not different than usual in this game and I'd hate to lose his ability to read people, although his powers haven't been as strong as they once were

White Rose - Played the "Damned if you do, damned if you don't" defense when his lack of contribution drew attention. I can understand his attitude. Hell, he almost seems like BG's multi. But you know, you gotta come up with some reason to pressure someone D1. He didn't really soft-claim, but I felt his post also had a note of "you'll be sorry if you pursue this further" attached to it.

Winston - Pretty sure he's not playing at this point. We could just lynch him so the mod doesn't have to worry about replacing him. Does that count as making the Mod happy?

Category 2: The role players

The ones who are running with the flavor (Mandy and a few others, I think...) are having fun. I'm don't think they should be targeted for D1, but I have a (usually wrong) intuition that overly flavorful posting can be a diversionary tactic. I also feel like getting overly excited about the game might be a scum tell, because it's kind of a rush of adrenaline to know things that others don't while the rest of us flail around blindly, so there can be a tendency to get more into it. I wholeheartedly encourage the having of the fun, but it probably will make me pay a little more attention going forward to make sure the intentions are honorable.

Anyway, hoping for a vote count. My vote's on rose right now. It's mostly a "what do ya got to offer?" challenge, but feeling that we need to move toward legit pressure I want a clearer idea of viable options to evaluate. Rose might be one, so the vote stands for now. If/when I change, it will probably be a bandwagon. This counts as a largish game to me and don't see how else something gets done D1.

On the subject of deadlines, I agree with jbfloyd. And no, I'm not just saying it because it's the Townie thing to say, but because, I don't see the fun in playing the game where most people post less then once per Day and there is a 5 day deadline. If I'm Town I don't see the fun in begging people to play the game that they signed up for and if I'm scum I don't see the fun in winning over someone who didn't turn up for the match. I'm sorry for not speaking up before I signed up, but I really didn't know then that there would be deadlines.
