Symmetry asked me to review the decision posted by Clapper011 that posting men instead of women in this thread is trolling and constitutes a punishable offense. Consequently I decided to review the thread and have a thorough look at this matter.
Here are my findings.
Regarding the OP:There is no doubt that Blitzaholic intended this thread for the posting of "pics of chicks". I think it's disingenuous to argue (as some have) that Blitzaholic meant it to include male celebrities because he used the wording "post pics or photos of the hottest/sexiest or most beautiful women/celebrities in the world but maintain cc guidelines, please no nudity, some pics may not be suitable for all viewers. TY"
Blitzaholic was not the world's most eloquent wordsmith, but he made his meaning pretty clear, and issued several clarifications, including some very early on. Post 3:
Subject: HOT + SEXY + nsfw(women only as per OP)Blitzaholic wrote::lol: females, must be real pics of females, surely you can find one and post it in here, lol
Post 7:
Subject: HOT + SEXY + nsfw(women only as per OP)Blitzaholic wrote:lol, i meant of celebrities in the world, not cc players, you know like jessica alba, etc

The original wording of women/celebrities may have left some doubt, but the follow-up clarifications make his meaning completely unambiguous.
I think netiquette requires us to give considerable weight to an OP's wishes as to what the thread is to be about, and flagrant derailment of an active thread can be considered a punishable offense.
However, should that consideration extend indefinitely? In 2007 and 2008 Blitzaholic was definitely the driving force behind this thread -- encouraging posters, commenting on their pics, adding his own, ranking and rating. By 2009 he was posting much less, by 2010 very little, and his very last post in this thread was on January 25th, 2011.
I'm thinking that an OP's right to consideration does not exist in perpetuity. I think after some reasonable time the thread becomes community property. Note that I'm speaking in the moral sense, and not attempting to claim any actual legal implications here.
So, while I believe it's unequivocally true that the OP's intention was to have only female pictures posted here, I don't think we necessarily are still bound by that five years after Blitz's last post.
Male PicsMale pictures have appeared here from time to time. The first occurrence was a set of pics of Arnold Schwarznegger back on January 12th, 2008, on page 42. Right from the beginning these received a poor reception from most thread participants.
Way back in 2007 Clapper started the
World's Sexiest Men thread. Almost always, pictures of men posted in this thread have been met with a reminder that they belong in the World's Sexiest Men thread. Most of the posters of male pics acquiesced to these requests. Clapper011, at the time a highly-active mod, was central to the policing of the thread. Clapper, as noted, began the male thread, and she was also a highly active and enthusiastic participant in the female thread. As far as I can tell, three users were warned formally and an unknown number informally. Clapper is also no longer on the scene, but she kept her enthusiasm for this thread even after Blitz abandoned it.
SymmetrySymmetry certainly wasn't the first to post male pics here, but he was the most persistent. There was quite a debate about this (starting on page 178 if you're interested) but the official ruling was, as noted above, when Clapper warned him that any further posting of males would constitute a punishable offense. That was in mid-2011. Blitzaholic was no longer posting in the thread, but he still was on the site and there was hope he might take it over again, so it's reasonable that at that time consideration was still given to the OP's wishes. Five years later, I don't believe there's any point any more. Similarly, I don't think there's any need to be bound by Clapper's wishes after her long absence.
I don't believe that the warning given to Sym at that time would still carry weight now. I don't think anyone who is currently a mod would give him a ban for posting a male pic in here, provided of course that the image was not pornographic and didn't break any other rules.
If you're just wanting to cut to the chase:
Posting a male pic in this thread is not, by itself, a punishable offense.Community propertyEssentially, this has ceased to be the OP's thread, and it's community property now. The community will make of it what it wishes. It would seem logical to me that we would continue to post pics of hot chicks in here, and keep the pics of guys in the other thread. That's just a personal opinion, not a rule. I think most people would prefer a separation, but nobody will die if isn't maintained. I think we've all been to the beach at some point and seen people of both genders in their bathing suits.
With the contest from the OP just a distant memory, do with this thread what you will. If you want to start a new contest and identify the hottest women of 2016, do that. If you want to continue just throwing your favourite finds in here, do that. And if you see something in this thread that doesn't turn your crank, scroll past.
