You don't want to be #1 it's a curse. My #1 ranking lasted all of a week and I've been on a losing streak since. :-/ I should hopefully still make the big dance.

Standings updated...only a few straggling games out of the regular season set. Northern Iowa is the new #1 heading into the postseason.

SELECTION SHOW: Noon (EST) on Thursday, July 16.
Hi all...I will be hosting a live Selection Show in the chat forum at Noon (EST) on Thursday, as we unveil the 32-team March Madness bracket and the 16-team field for the NIT. Opening round games will be sent out shortly after the show.

So far we have five tickets punched for the NCAA bracket with Ohio State, San Diego State, Tennessee, Texas Tech and Brown winning their conference bids. Three conference finals remain ongoing.

Sorry all...I'm bumping the Selection Show to Noon (EST) on Tuesday, July 21 instead to allow all of the current conference championship games to play themselves out.

The West Region is up which features overall #1 seed San Diego State — winners of the regular season and conference tourney in the Pac-12, which proved out to be the nation's toughest conference this year.

A difficult 2nd round matchup could await the Aztecs in Indiana, which has been a top-10 team most of the season and has a couple power ups at its disposal.

Pittsburgh is the last team into the bracket (assuming they are able to finish off their win in the Big East finale)...if that changes the Panthers would be replaced with another team that has already been selected.

SEC champion Tennessee is the top seed in the South after putting on an impressive late-season charge that kept the Vols moving up the charts. Coach viperoverlord is one of only two coaches in the tournament with a full allotment of power-ups at his disposal.

Tennessee had the nation's largest average winning margin at 12.67 points per game.


#2 seed Oakland could be a viable foe in the bottom half of the region if *pixar* can prove his wins aren't simply a product of playing in the American Conference, while SEC final Houston also waits as a potential Elite Eight opponent for Tennessee.

Northern Iowa held down the nation's top spot late in the regular season and earned a top seed in the East and a full allotment of powers. They open against traditional mainstay Clemson — a dangerous first-round foe. Northern Iowa had the season's longest win streak at 13 games.

A pair of Ivy League heavyweights also sit in this bracket with Princeton and Brown.

The East bracket has more power-ups earned (13) than any of the other regions.

Rounding out this year's 32-team field is the Midwest bracket led by top seed Nebraska, who held down the nation's No. 1-ranking throughout the middle of the season. Oregon could also be a solid contender after finishing near the top of the Pac-12. Both teams have three power-ups to use.

Syracuse is a scary #7 seed with two power-ups in play. A solid finish to the season earned the Orange a spot in the bracket.

What a fantastically shitty draw. So much for the regular season meaning anything...4 teams finished worse off than me and finished worse in their conf. tourneys and still got better seeds than me...I was in the top 10 all season long and finish as the 16 seed taking on the number one seed overall in the second rd.? wow!

The committee also takes into account how you are playing heading into the tourney...Ohio finished the season 10-9 after their torrid start. Those 11 wins out of the blocks kept you in the top-10 most of the season.

That said, you've put together a fine season. Had we had a bigger turnout and the full 64-team field you would have seen greater disparity in your opening round matchup. With just 32 teams the differences are much thinner.

Also, to be clear...San Diego State was the overall No. 1 seed.
The RPI went final at the end of the regular season and doesn't reflect the conference tourney results...San Diego State earned the #1 seed by winning the Pac-12 tourney -- which was the toughest league in the tourney
