lmao! Evolution depends on creation. Even Darwin knew this. It never ceases to amaze me how many people think evolution and creation are diametrically opposed. It's far more likely they are both a part of something much bigger.notyou2 wrote:When I first came here there were a lot of creationists. There doesn't seem to be very many now.
Where did they go?
Did evolution wipe them out?
Ah yes, the time-tested approach of using multiple meanings for the same word to win an argument. "Let me just slip in the word creation here, meaning the general idea of an object being generated, and hope that other people don't realize I'm trying to conflate it with the concept of Biblical creation by the Abrahamic god. They'll never know what hit 'em."Phatscotty wrote:lmao! Evolution depends on creation.notyou2 wrote:When I first came here there were a lot of creationists. There doesn't seem to be very many now.

For what it's worth, it never ceases to amaze me just how far people will go to defend their core beliefs, so just know that in a way you are not alone. It never ceases to amaze me how many people think evolution and creation are diametrically opposed.
Not that I really know that much on the subject.WingCmdr Ginkapo wrote:If you look at the order of how things happened in the biblical story and scientific theory, they are actually very similar. I've never really understood why creationism and evolution are always the two ideas which are argued about, the bigger question is creationism versus the big bang.
I think "scientists" back in the day were actually quite advanced and put a lot of sensible ideas into religious texts.
yes.... the word 'creation' was just 'slipped in' the thread named creationists.... to do with creationism. I really should have tried to be more sneaky!!! Creationism is not even close to a core belief of mine. Epic fail.Metsfanmax wrote:Ah yes, the time-tested approach of using multiple meanings for the same word to win an argument. Still a false dichotomy.WingCmdr Ginkapo wrote:If you look at the order of how things happened in the biblical story and scientific theory, they are actually very similar. There have been plenty of instances where myself and others have showed proof of evolution, incontrovertibly. Whether the creationists choose to acknowledge it is up to them. It does require at least a working familiarity of the basics of genetics and physiology.warmonger1981 wrote:Is it possible there is something out there so unbelievably smarter than us that they were able to create all of this. Humans are only touching the tip of the iceberg. It's silly to think that creation or evolution are the only option. You people act as we have figured it all out. We haven't even discovered all the animals or plants on the earth yet we can definitively say where everything from or they evolved. If evolution is correct why not compress all that has been learned into a 2-3 hour movie showing proven facts of evolution? Not theories. Or if creation is the other option why not compress all that info into a 2-3 hour movie stating proven facts?Neither side can do so. If they could there would be no debate because either side would be able to explain where we came from.
How could one define "macro evolution" in such a way as to imply that you can believe in "micro evolution" but not "macro evolution?" I contend that this is a logically impossible idea, but give it your best shot I suppose.isaiah40 wrote:So, what evolution are you talking about? Micro or macro? There is a difference. What mets said. There is no real distinction between the two. "Micro" is to "macro" what dx is to the area under a curve.isaiah40 wrote:So, what evolution are you talking about? Micro or macro? My penis.warmonger1981 wrote:If I understand correctly everything is held together by a frequency. If you change a frequency you can change the molecular structure or physical properties. Where does this frequency come from?

After making several arguments how "evolution" is not in the Bible, some annoying person mentioned that "Conquer Club" isn't in the Bible. either.notyou2 wrote:Where did they go?
