Each Month, Team CC will be sponsoring a mafia game. This mafia game will receive prizes for the winner (MVP or as determined by the host) and an incentive towards the Host. At the hosts discretion, they may choose to use a portion or all of the incentive credits towards the prize instead.
Winner Prize includes:
TBD* Credits for the MVP (or distributed as determined by the host)
A General Achievement medal for all winners
Hosting Incentive includes:
TBD* Credits
A General Contribution medal
If you have an idea of a game you would like to host and would like to have sponsored prizes, please send a PM to me or Epitaph1 with some details about your game. Please be ready to post your game thread within three days of getting approval (or within the first three days of the month, if your game is approved in advance).
How about a newcomer friendly game where new players are partnered with existing / experienced / skilled players. So it would almost be teams.
Player A new paired with Player B experienced together are "vanilla townie"
Player C new paired with Player D experienced together are mafia guy
Etc etc
The purpose being as the game goes on new players can PM existing openly with any questions with basic or advanced (something as simple as "what does FOS mean" can go a long way) without reading a full encyclopedia. As the game progresses they can ask what the experienced suspects and why, make their own choices, get help trying to deceive etc.
Once done a training game like this they would be much better prepared for future ones on their own. If they are eliminated early maybe they can participate in a few before making room for new potential players

When I mod games, I encourage my players to ask these questions to me, though I'm not sure how common that is.
I would be happy if someone would host an open setup game like a C9 or similar.
I'll check with blake on all this. He appointed me the mod of the mafia forum after HP mafia, so I'll make sure I can anoint certain games to be official including the associated prizes.
I've had a very busy summer and just got back from vacation. So, I should have more time to devote to the forum and get this organized.

OK, I got the green light to anoint official games.
Before I make anything official, I want to make sure we're on the same page:
July - Political Mafia
August - Foundation Mafia
September - Mars' Pick Your Own mafia
Is this right?
Also, the mod for these games must list how the credits will be distributed in the OP of each mafia game (MVP by vote, moderator chooses, etc.) and all the players must agree to it. I'll update the OP of this thread to reflect the new requirements.
You should probably enforce the mods to post a rule that says something like:
'By signing up you agree to the terms of award distribution determined by the mod', and ofcourse have the mod post it in the rules before sign-ups.
Retroactive games maybe mods should post something like: 'if there are any complaints to distribution of awards, post them here', after he added that to his rules.
Yeah, I agree. Also, I think there should be a requirement for official games to be balance checked by at least 2 people going forward. We want those to be some of our best games and keep experimenting to non-official games.
Epitaph1 wrote:Anyone want to host an official game for October? Doesn't have to be big but it will need to be checked for balance--so maybe not as experimental.
Can I register myself as mod the for Official Game for September?
I posted the setup in the Upcoming Games section. As it is a semi-open setup, with all possible implications know, everyone can check it if it is balanced enough for an Official Game.
