Hey, this sounds like a good idea.waauw wrote:maybe an idea for the future might be to have the website in different language versions. It might attract more people from other countries, especially considering the google-ranking results.

does this also take into account that most other websites use images and flashplayer to a lesser extent?Keefie wrote:This is worthy of noting.

77.6% of the users on this website are american
>90% of the users are native english-speakers
So yeah, the problem is that the website is made and designed for people who speak english.
Hence why there are less people of other nationalities. In addition, maybe the original classical boardgame risk might just not have been popular in russia.

That's not what it's about. If you have pages translated yourself, it'll come up higher as a result on search engines.owenshooter wrote:google already translates the page for you... amazing... love that google... and we have foreign language sub forums, too... i would love to see a google translation of one of our threads... ha!!!-Jésus noirManBungalow wrote:Hey, this sounds like a good idea.waauw wrote:maybe an idea for the future might be to have the website in different language versions. Well isn't that the point? According to alexa.com statistics the 4th largest country community on this website are spaniards, even though they are quite infamous for their bad english skills. I think the potential for a new audiance from spain and in extention all of latin america, is quite enormous.GeneralFault wrote: * multilanguage is not helping in your strive to clime in the search engine ranking (believe me, i know.... i have an internet marketing company). Your name is going to be that icky brown colour if you carry this on! Possibly the best stuff I've read on CC lately.waauw wrote:Well isn't that the point? Additionally I'd like to point you the fact that if you search all frenchmen on the website(through 'full score leaderboard'), you'd find out that there are only 174 frenchmen on the website. Yet there are 246 dutchmen. This is an enormous difference if you take into account population differences and the fact that the original game 'Risk' was invented and popularized in France.
The reason for this inconsistency is language. Contrary to dutch, which is both yours and my native language, the french don't search the internet in english. The dutch results on the internet are highly unsatisfactory and insufficient, and dutchmen are generally very proficient in english. Hence why they find this website quite easily. The french on the contrary have a sufficiently self-serving community on the internet. They don't have the propensity to search the web in english and stumble upon CC.
So I'm not saying a dutch version would be beneficial, however the contrary is true for other major languages. There is a reason why large gaming corporations have their games translated into the major languages. Because those people are less used to using english and their huge populations are profitable.

Pretty sure this is because of betiko.waauw wrote: Additionally I'd like to point you the fact that if you search all frenchmen on the website(through 'full score leaderboard'), you'd find out that there are only 174 frenchmen on the website. Using that logic, there would be less americans than french onsite. Well we make up for it by having a lot more Americans. I do believe that if I weren't here, the Great Decline would immediately end.BoganGod wrote:Using that logic, there would be less americans than french onsite.
