new solution for noob deadbeats

Postby trackersdream on Fri May 25, 2007 9:35 am

have an e-mail sent to the email they registered for every turn they have till they make luitenant and not be able to turn it off untill they reach that point.

I think a lot of noob deadbeat get out of site out of mind syndrome and it is to easy to reach private. I feel this system of reminders will keep C.C on there mind and there weill be less beadbeaters well at least that are noobs that is.

I still would say Sergeant since it takes some doing to get there private is way to easy but once the hit Sergeant and fall back to private it does not matter

I'm a dedicated player on CC. I just started playing about a month ago. I still haven't missed a turn. Currently I'm a seargean but I would not want an e-mail evevrytime its my turn. I think when someone reaches 10 games (I think that is when someone becomes private) then they stop getting e-mail notifications.

I think there should be e-mail notifications until they become private. Because to become a private you do need to play a while.

Email notifications are useless as a nagging/annoying tool. Any email program these days can filter them out before you see them, and then at that point everything from the site will probably be treated as spam.

The solution is to allow the max # of missed turns before a boot to be set at the time the game is created. If people don't like the boot time, they don't have to join the game.

Personally, given the above I wouldn't join a game that let people stay after missing a turn.

lol then you have nothing to worry about and what she said is have it stop at Sarnet since you have completed 10 games at that point a private only must complete 4 and any noob can join and deadbeat 4 games when they sign up so it would be pointless the option would be given once Sargent is reached to continue recieving e-mails or not I honestly agree and believe this would help I mean there is nothing that will 100% resolve but helping is great...

I don't know this for a fact but I would imagine that the newb who misses their first turn is likely to miss all of them.

one solution would be to boot any new player that misses their first turn. This will get the dead wood out of the system quicker while not holding up the game longer than necessary.

In my opinion, this idea would turn off the good new players just as much as it would turn off the deadbeat new players. Which is something I think we should try to avoid.

Three-Misses-Before-Boot is really excessive

Postby bamage on Tue May 29, 2007 6:22 pm

There are some good ideas here and a good basis for discussion and disagreement, but does anyone disagree that a total newb who misses the first two turns is likely to miss the third? Boot the newb after the second miss just to lower the annoyance factor a bit.

Another possible solution is to shorten a newb's time-to-play to 12 hours immediately after a miss.
