Tonight they so 3-1 up after 40 mins... I cry. Poor Ards. Final whistle blows with the score 3-3
They're still going to win the league and Ards are still going to finish last but who cares.

it's not over for falcao. with a lot of luck, he can be there just on time. I really hope it works for him, I like the cafeteros. Really unfair...nietzsche wrote:Poor Falcao, I think the press is not giving enough attention to the issue, and this injury clearly wipes all illusion of Colombia for something good.
So, no Ibrahimovic, no Falcao, no Bale, what other good players won't be in the WC?

Yes I'd say around half who care would want Ireland to win, maybe a little less. Myself included... as long as they keep playing the English national anthem before a game I'll want them to lose every single one of them.betiko wrote:
trevor; what is worse, the welsh or the northern irish championship? lol
here's another one: what happens in a ireland vs northern ireland football game? are half of northern irish supporting ireland? this is very confusing for me!
they should at least make a n irish+ irish football league... both are too crappy to not even think of it. and a welsh league... with cardiff and swansea in premier league? how stupid does that look?trevor33 wrote:Yes I'd say around half who care would want Ireland to win, maybe a little less. Actually I'd much rather see a united Ireland football team, just like in rugby, cricket and unofficially hockey. Ireland are good at beating the little teams while N. Ireland can't beat Luxemburg but they can beat Russia and draw with Portugal twice. They've also beaten England and Spain in semi recent years. Ireland haven't beaten any top side since Portugal and Holland to reach the 2002 world cup.
For sure they would qualify for more major tournaments... that is after the civil war of course![]()
And I'd say (without ever g=having watched the Welsh league) that they're about the same, both do just as bad in Europe. Irish league has had it's moment but I don;t think a Welsh or N. Irish side has been past the second qualifying round in the CL.

Fantastic to see Wenger did not take this fixture lightly. He sent the lads out to do a job, no fucking about. And that's exactly what we did.

Far harder than any otherwise sensible person might think I'm sorry to say for very complicated historical,religious/political reasons. Many Irish people do not regard themselves as British especially in the Republic.Have you ever wondered why the Rugby Union touring team is called the British and Irish Lions? And there is a strong Scottish Nationalist movement pushing for independence as well..betiko wrote:Well that s a shame, when you have more people supporting teams in a neighbour country than in your own..
So can you make a little comparative history between rugby and football... Do you know why one went extremely well, with an "island" team while the other has 2 teams?
Well of course i don t remember qualifying rounds of the champions league from many years ago, at least if it doesn t involve one of my teams or a french team. But yeah, derry city and shelbourne do ring a bell.
It wouldn t be too hard for the irish federation to have some national training facilities.. With less than 5 millions or so.. I don t know, why not even have a dublin fc or whatever in the epl... And create a BIPL (british isles premier league) merging that pointless scottish league...

Like I said its complicated, the British Isles is a geographic entity like Iberia or Scandanavia,it contains more than one country.Northern Ireland is part of the UK but many Irish are agin this resulting in the 'troubles' of recent history.betiko wrote:well, being part of the british isles is a geographic reality, like it or not. being british too but it's something else... well that's a good question regarding northern irish... they are not right? they are... unitedkingdomians? lol, whatever it might be called. english, welsh and scotts -> all british though.
Catalans might be independentists, bascs too, but I doubt they would be interested in leaving the liga to create a useless regional championship that would make all their teams uncompetitive. The welsh got that and the 2 best teams left their useless league to join the EPL.
Same in France... would the corsicans want to leave the french league??? they could always do a league with sardenia lol. You have the AC ajaccio (falling in second next year) and the SC bastia in first division; the CA bastia in second (falling to third next season) and the GFCO ajaccio in third division (about to get back in second, like the AC). Sardenia has Calgari in serie A

Btw Cardiff and Swansea were never in the Welsh leagues, they were promoted to the EPL from the Championship

For a century or so until 2011 they were under the governance of the Welsh FA who allowed them to play in the English leagues, but now they are under the FA.I hadn't realised this had changed until I googled it..betiko wrote:i know all this obviouslychang50 wrote:Like I said its complicated, the British Isles is a geographic entity like Iberia or Scandanavia,it contains more than one country.Northern Ireland is part of the UK but many Irish are agin this resulting in the 'troubles' of recent history.betiko wrote:well, being part of the british isles is a geographic reality, like it or not. being british too but it's something else... well that's a good question regarding northern irish... they are not right? they are... unitedkingdomians? lol, whatever it might be called. english, welsh and scotts -> all british though.

regarding cardiff and swansea: they did make the choice to join the FA at some point and leave the welsh federation.
i didn't know that it was in 2011. your second division is called league one? or maybe that's third division... anyways... i was living in the UK in 2011 and I remember that when they showed tables of english second division. so they joined directly second division when they joined the FA?? Also, it's surprising that they are that good.chang50 wrote:For a century or so until 2011 they were under the governance of the Welsh FA who allowed them to play in the English leagues, but now they are under the FA.I hadn't realised this had changed until I googled it..betiko wrote:i know all this obviouslychang50 wrote:Like I said its complicated, the British Isles is a geographic entity like Iberia or Scandanavia,it contains more than one country.Northern Ireland is part of the UK but many Irish are agin this resulting in the 'troubles' of recent history.betiko wrote:well, being part of the british isles is a geographic reality, like it or not. being british too but it's something else... well that's a good question regarding northern irish... they are not right? they are... unitedkingdomians? lol, whatever it might be called. english, welsh and scotts -> all british though.

They just carried on in the league they were in already only under FA jurisdiction.Did you know there is a Spanish side playing in the French league system? In a lower league obviously.betiko wrote:i didn't know that it was in 2011. your second division is called league one? or maybe that's third division... anyways... i was living in the UK in 2011 and I remember that when they showed tables of english second division. so they joined directly second division when they joined the FA??
