My unimportant point is....

That without hearing from any of the Mods or Lack, How can you vote that AK did the right thing....

We have no idea, because there has been no reason given except for a one sided point of view.

So how can people vote with a honest opinion.

except for the people who think it wasn't right.

This poll is bogus, because AK is making it impossible to know why he did it. Maybe he made a mistake?

Maybe he has been told not to comment of this subject any further?

If he made a mistake he should admit it and apologize to the community.

This Poll with people saying AK did something right is inaccurate...
Unless AK has told all the people who voted in favor for him, why he deleted the thread.

Just in case you mods are bristling at our treating this matter as if we live in a democracy, and what right do we have to treat this as if it were our forum, i would like to point out that this is your fault. You, the site administration, have made us feel that this is our forum, and that we have a personal stake in it. You have fostered this notion by keeping a rather low profile as moderators while still socializing with us, by refraining from heavy handed actions except when absolutely necessary (as in the dug case), and generally by making us feel a sense of community here. So please forgive my spouting off, but i have come to admire you all a great deal, and i am a lot more disturbed about this change in behavior on your part than i am about the loss of some thread. Like i said, if i'm out of line sounding off like this it's your fault for making me feel like a part of things here. Please let me know if i'm wrong.

After reading through all of these posts I must concur: AK was in the wrong.

(of course, I joined after th deletion and therefore probably know only a very small portion of the story)

Is anyone else wondering why this should take so long? I mean, it's not a terribly complex problem, and each day that goes by takes my respect for the mods down a notch.

No, but our confidence in them might.

I appreciate that a little bit of time was needed to figure out what happened and what was going to be done. But as B.K. said, this isn't such a complex issue; and we've been waiting for quite some time now, without even an update.

So if we're not going to get a result, can we at least know what's going on? Y'know, what precisely does "we're looking into it" mean? What 'process' is going on behind the scenes that's taking so many days?

I want to believe you when you say that something's being done; but it really does just look like you're trying to fob us off until we forget about it...

I got this from Andy yesterday, after I asked him how the talks were going:
AndyDufresne wrote:It's going good actually. I think we are getting somewhere, and I hope by Monday we will have sorted everything out. We're sorry that it's taking long, but we've realized we have over-rushed some issues (I.E. Dugcarr) without proper talk, and one of our goals is to lessen hasty decisions.

To those that think this is dragging out, I do think you should consider that the very fact that its taking a long time, shows they are taking it seriously.

I guarantee not everyone will like whatever happens here...theres no way for that to happen, but at least it was taken seriously enough to warrant this much deliberation.

It shows they obviously do care, and that there was indeed an actual issue at stake here.

Hopefully though, they will find a way to appease everyone, and make the site better....those who still want to be negative after this will indeed do so, but i hope the rest will help add to the place, and not try to bring it down with more complaints.

Similarly, I do hope the management sees that the players with no skill and whose only fun here is through posting, consider the forum part of the game and in their own way contribute....though it is obvious there will be more guidelines and rules in the future, which is to be expected of any growing site.

im sorry spamsomuchers...i just couldnt help myself with the last part

I agree with your last paragraph. Some ppl (such as myself sometimes) will post a LOT in the forums. I think sometimes we forget that this is a risk website, not just forums. Sure, the forums are great, you can talk while you wait for your turns, but sometimes things in the forums are taken to an extreme, such as spamalot.

For me, the forums are where i go in between my turns in each game. Since i only have 4 games, I am here quite a lot

i think that the forums are just as important as the games, we can chat about random things and post things which would be completely inappropriate in games

I have to disagree with you here Fitz. The basic issue here, i.e. AK using his mod position to settle a personal score, is not that complex, and certainly doesn't need over a week to act on. But if they are going to close ranks and do nothing to AK, then it's going to drag out, as they try to determine how best to muddy the waters by blaming Spamalot and God knows what or who else. I think the inordinate amount of time delay here is insulting to the membership, and they are basically letting us know that "it's my ball, so if you don't like it, go find another game". Sadly, i think a number of us may take them up on that.

Well in response to the question of "Why are they taking so long?" I'll propose another question: Don't you think they would have other things to do? Yeah I'll agree that this Spamalot thing is important, but conquerclub is first and foremost a risk website. I know that Lack is busy, just check his to-do list. And him and the mods have to deal with the normal site and forum problems. This Spamalot thing is not as important as some of you think. It's not like you have absolutely nowhere to post as the forums are still up. So just be patient and find somewhere else to spend your time. Let Lack concentrate on the most important part of this site (risk- you know what you play in between posting). As far as I'm concerned, I'd rather have some of the updates concentrated on instead of the Spamalot problem.

Actually, lack really (as far as I know) isn't getting involved in this. Andy is taking care of it now. So…

Kwanton, you obviously have missed the point in all this, so it's no wonder that you feel it isn't important. You think they are too busy to deal with this? Not enough time? Let me give you the magic formula - you PM AK, you type in: AK, you were wrong. Apologize to the members involved. Now if one is as slow as you seem, all that could take you as long as 5 minutes. Our mods are not slow, and they are certainly not as stupid as you seem to think. They are intelligent, capable leaders, and if they don't solve this in a timely manner it is not because they are inept and unable, it's because they choose to close ranks and protect their own. Please spare us any more stupid excuses, and go do your brown nosing elsewhere.

BK Barunt you have obviously missed my point in all this. I have agreed with hecter on the fact that AK did delete the Spamalot thread for personal reasons. My point was that the mod's side of the story has not yet been heard. I even questioned as to why AK was not defending himself. I did not in fact ever imply that the mods were "stupid, inept, or inable" as you would have people believe. Wicked did however say that the mods had to stick together. This is not a bad thing as they would in fact look unorganized if they did not deal with this problem in a unified manner. Please spare me any further facetious accusations, and go do your preaching somewhere else.

I preach, you brown nose - go figure. You agree that AK was out of line, so what could you possibly mean by "the mod's side of the story"? Again, why would they wait for a week to tell "their side" if they had something to say? Reticence of this nature is a clear indication that they are not too eager to tell "their side". AK is probably digging in - someone who would do what he did is an ass hole, and ass holes are not known for a readiness to admit when they're wrong - and rather than censure him, they are closing ranks. I've seen this type of thing before, but i honestly didn't think i'd see it here. When i see people kissing their ass, like yourself, i just wonder what the motive is, but then again, some people are just natural ass kissers.

On a similar note...

May 15th - Lots of Empathy from general forum.

May 21st - General Forum bored of it all.

But then again - maybe that's the plan?!
