IIRC gray was deemed too dark for some maps, so now green is too dark for some maps. Now it looks black--AND THERE IS NO BLACK!* WHAT WILL WE DO?!?!iAmCaffeine wrote:It was changed to avoid confusion with any other colours.
That's a good explanation, but it seems they haven't attained the desired outcome (i.e. least possible confusion). But at least roughly 500 of 16000 users are happy?Arama86n wrote:One person in the thread using their brain anywayShannon Apple wrote:Not too fond of it either.
Although... I'm sure they changed it because of the new colours to help distinguish them for someone with colour blindness or partial colour blindness. Just my guess.
@ everyone else; obviously it was changed to facilitate the incorporation of 4 new colours in light of 12-player games. I doubt they'll ever manage this in a way that makes everyone happy, but hell, since when has everyone ever been happy anyway.
I shall now hold my tongue and let the whining continue.

That wasn't the problem. Slate clashed with lots of potential colours, and wouldn't be easily visible with some of the new colours either. It also was easily confused with the old green. By changing both slate and green there isn't really any confusion now, just people being pathetic.BigBallinStalin wrote:IIRC gray was deemed too dark for some maps, so now green is too dark for some maps. *(also racism)

This sounds coherent. What about one set for colour blind people and another set for non-colour blind people? That would make everybody happyQwert wrote:ok, its look that this its clear discrimination of non color blind persons. I though that everybody need to be equal and have same chance to play normal games. Not really a viable option, since many of the colours ruled out during the process were too similar for those of us who aren't colour blind, nevermind those who are.OliverFA wrote:This sounds coherent. This was discussed. So was what qwert is asking for (manually being able to select your own colors). It's not possible at this time.OliverFA wrote:This sounds coherent. Am I the only color-blind player who finds the new Green hard to distinguish?Jdsizzleslice wrote: Lol grow up people... We have 3 pages of people complaining BECAUSE THEY DON'T LIKE A COLOR.
Besides... We changed the color green darker so we could make 12 player games... So which would you rather have?
We asked for Open Callouts for anyone that wanted to help. It's not feasible to ask every single user what they want, because there would be just too much info to go to. And we did have a mix of regular users and mods who worked on this. And yes, we did have colorblind users helping us with the process.Cyantist wrote:Am I the only color-blind player who finds the new Green hard to distinguish?Jdsizzleslice wrote: Lol grow up people... I do use color codes and BOB, but even with that turned on it's quite hard to distinguish at a glance between Red and Green (the real "trouble" colors for the most common type of color-blindness).
(Meaning: I'm not bitching simply because I "don't like it" and there are others on this thread who are having trouble with it as well.)
Personally, I won't be playing too many 12-player games. I don't mean to diminish the real work that went into making it possible, but it seems that quite a few more 4 - 8 player games are going to be played in the future and those colors could have been kept the same. Perhaps all new colors could have been picked for the new players slots?
Maybe I missed this, but it seems this could have been run by the people it purported to help before it was implemented...
