Has anyone else noticed a sharp spike in the number of new recruits in games???

Since they arent allowed to join team games anymore, unless invited in private games, they are most likely going to be in standard games. Much more will end up there now.

I've noticed that there are fewer standard games and more team games. I think experienced players are less likely to start singles games now because they will get filled up with newbs.

I for one like playing noobs and help getting them hooked. I just started a couple games that quickly filled with noobs. sure they're clueless... at first... but we were all there once. give 'em a break and help them learn.

For sure Wicked, I agree. I'm just saying what I've noticed.

I think this is an unintended consequence of the noobs can't play team games rule.

For instance, there are absolutely no open games that are: standard, sequential, unlimited, flat rate. I've never seen this before.

I think it's a good thing. My first team game I was frickin clueless...lol. you're forgetting noobs can start their own games, so they're not limited.

Same here, I got mad pwned in my first doubles game because I didn't know what to do, but in the second, I were the pwner. :P
And most of the times, people that partner with New Recruits end up disappointed. :/

it really is better for them that they cant play teams...have almost no chance of a partner that knows any more than them, so they are just fish in a barrel, if they havent played before

I concur. One of my first four games as a fresh-faced freemium was a triples game. With a fellow new recruit and a deadbeat private. When none of us were acquainted with the team rules (i.e., I thought that a team could share a continent).

Against blitz and jon and nyg.

Sooooooo monstrously unfair. They were Spartans, we were a pack of grab-astic pieces of amphibian shite (to borrow a phrase from the immortal Full Metal jacket)...

Now, it's not like I haven't liberated some points from some noobs. But turkey-shoots aren't all that fun after awhile.

All in all, a welcome change to the site. Let the new recruits get their feet wet. I played a ton of risk back in the day, so I can't even imagine what it must be like for the average young 'un who's never even seen a risk board to start playing here.

I've realised that growth in newbies too. One of my games has 4 in it! I don't mind playing with them because they're usually easy points but 2 of these 4 seem to be deadbeating

I don't mind the deadbeating... I'm premium so can be in enough games to keep myself fairly occupied. Heck, I play with Lack and Twill alot, and they miss turns all the time. It does lessen the challenge considerably, but it's tolerable for me.

I enjoyed the following game with you, red bull.

I love the assassin format. You definitely cannot be timid in that game or it is over before it began.

i`ve been on holiday a week, so i have come back today and started about 15 games (all standard and sequential, esc or flat) and in nearly everyone there is a noob. i don`t mind noobs, but sometimes i get the feeling that they are going to deadbeat, so i leave them alone and concentrate on other. back in the day when i was a noob, one of my first 4 games was doubles. i was stuck with a private and he deadbeated after a couple of rounds and that was it. i don`t do team games now unless tourney.

But becuase of the new rules you will never have a noob as a teammate, and you will almost always play with noobs in singles.
