iancanton wrote:looking excellent. the only thing i'd do is to move the corner dead warrior bonuses one square toward the middle slave entrances. this is because the corner entrances already have the big advantage of being remote from attack, so they should not also have the additional advantage of being closer to the nearest dead warrior bonus. otherwise, i regard it as good for the gameplay stamp in all respects. alternatively, if u don't want to move the dead warriors, then have each of the four corner foods start as n2.
Will go with the neutral 2 on the food then if that is OK.
i'm not sure that it's possible to arrange for only the 4 corner entrances and nothing else to be occupied for 4-player games. if the corners are the 4 start positions with a maximum of 1 position each, then the other 4 entrances are shared equally among the players (though there's nothing wrong with that).

ian. :)
It is not. I realised that a while ago but forgot to update the GP in the OP. But you are right, the centre 4 are the starting positions with a max of 1. This should only give one extra randomly within the centre 4 in all game sizes. Again, this should add some difference to the strategy.

Thanks ian.

For Traps, is the -1 on that region? Or does it reduce your every turn reinforcements?

"Slaves entrances can be attacked by adjacent regions only if Prometheus is held"

I think what you currently have needs to be changed to that. Having Prometheus fire and Prometheus in the same sentence is a little confusing.

You dangle stampage in front of me and then throw a spanner in the works.

Disagree that it would be confusing and your wording is very windy. But as stampage is imminent, a brainwave hits me like a force 9 hurricane. Hows this grab you.

Prometheus fire now ring of fire. Changed all wording to fit.

That's good. Last suggested change...either make it Ring of Fire, or ring of fire, to make it consistent.

Why not both? The big R starts a sentence and the little r is on the middle of one. Seems that we might have the English grammer police after us if we do that.

Slaves Entrance (should be Slave Entrances, since it's used in the singular in the description of the conditional border)
Medusa's Gaze (apostrophe needs to be added)
Dead Warriors

Both words are capitalized in these instances because they are proper nouns. Shouldn't Ring of Fire be the same way? And while you're at it, might as well change Siren call to Siren's Call.

These are simple changes for you to make real quick.

No such thing as a quick simple change.

Not to worry. As soon as the GP stamp is given, these are top priority along with about a million other things.

Gone round and cleaned up the image. Legend is now aligned. Not perfect as that is not wanted.

Glow versus icons.
Top image has the glows for the killer neutrals (Medusa) and the target squares for the spears.
The bottom has some icons for the same ones.

Which one is better? Glow or icons.

Hmm...I can't really tell what the icons are meant to represent. I mean, I know because I know the map, but if I was looking at it for the first time I wouldn't really have a clue.

But if the icon was in the legend so you would have a reference to it, I just do not want to get further down the line and have someone ask for the icons over the glows. cairnswk is famous for icons after Stalingrad and flapcake put them on trench warfair. I just do not want to over look any possibility if you know what I mean.

You've started / kept the glow theme, I would strongly prefer keeping those areas glow over adding additional icons.

That was and is my inclination.

EDIT: Got rid of the icons, updated legend, removed light grey from fire rings, added a darker glow to the sirens as the blue was too hard to see over the sea.

Glow all the way. This map already has a plethora of icons and other objects, that more icons I think would just distract more.

Icon and glow time then.

Icons in use at the moment.
  • Medusa
    Minotaur
Dead Warriors (4 territs per bonus)
    Spears
    Food
    Swords
    Ring of fire
    Pegasus
    Prometheus
    Traps
    Siren
    Pegasus
Change any? Increase/decrease size of any? Move any to a different part of the territ?

Glows
  • Black for siren decay
White and Yellow for Spear targets
    Blue for Medusa killer territs
Colours are OK now for colour blind tests.
But are they OK for normal people (Like/dislike colour)?
Too small or too large?

Re: Labyrinth [21/8] Page 15. Icons and Glows?

The food icons are a little hard to see on the map. Can you enlarge them and place the 888's in those squares? You may have to move the icons to a different corner, to get the 888's to fit with the enlarged icons.
