It's true that claiming does help generate more discussion and can get the ball rolling. However, it's true that claiming actually does help mafia more than town in the beginning of the game. In the middle, and especially late in the game, claiming helps town more.
Let me give an example. Let's say Mary Sue claims VT. Town believes her and doesn't lynch her. Game goes to night- and the mafia kill Mary Sue. She was a prime choice, as she already claimed. Now for Day 2- town has absolutely no new information to go on regarding the kill. Investigations are an exception, of course.
Lovo, I think you need to have more patience. Some people here are new to Mafia. As a mafia veteran, you should be more than willing to help explain all the rules and nuances to those with less experience. That's how we keep the mafia community growing and thriving.
I have my vote on Campin, and play to keep it there. By the way- just doing some meta- today is Campin's birthday, so don't be surprised if he doesn't post until tomorrow. If Campin truly is L-2, then he does need to claim- but I can't tell with the current edited vote count.

Have you read the whole thread...if not you should really go back.,..Its really a pre requisite for playing...
And yes Vio I understand patience is a key.
chuck its honestly just a coincidence about the apparent defending (or better yet deflecting) of campin. Though I do think pressuring for skimming the rules is kinda bs. And me being on betiko for pushing claims day 1....kinda obvious isnt it....It would of been the same no matter who he pushed

I really disagree with this argument. If I'm mafia, I'd never go for a VT NK on night1, it would be a real bad play for mafia.
regarding the vote count, there is a problem as you have 14 votes there doom. and I don t see where is the double vote, I guess you called someone with 2 different names..
With 13 alive, it takes 7 to lynch (or 5 to lynch if deadline is reached). Deadline is August 18th.
Is it just me or is jonty just jumping all over the place with his votes.... what's the deal there? FOS on jonty for the vote jumping.... hmm I need to take a look at those votes of his... I'll try to analyse tomorrow when I have some more time.
10:16:35 ‹Ace Rimmer› haven't looked at work in ages
10:42:43 ‹Sackett58› fine, I'll take my panties elsewhere

that's just the way jonty plays.
Anyway guys, we only have 5 days left and with this stupid discusion about making someone claim or not we won't be able to take any decision in time. the problem with this voting system is that we all have our vote somewhere, and not necesairly for a good reason.
we have no case here, as in all day 1s. I would still want to hear from campin an answer to my question: would it be a problem for the town if you get to claim?

LOL very bad example. First Town does not lie. Mafia will know the person who claimed is Town. Now they know their role. They will not target a VT as the probability they kill a PR has improved.
From my experience by day two someone will know something through blocking, bus driving, tracking, watching ect. and be able to observe what others say or do, which gives more information to be used. The game really is like a snowball rolling down hill. Some just move slower then others
Also JFOS, for chuck, after trying to vote the same person twice.
Semi-serious vote,

The games is going slowly, and I've seen games like this where no one says anything and the clock runs down until its too late to do anything meaningful

Samgrossy, seems to be posting little and of little value. Redhedge, a bit of bandwaggoning in the jokevote stage.
But these are pretty weak. unvote, vote no lynch until something tempts my vote to move along.
I have to my vote somewhere, so I'd rather have it on nobody

unvote, vote redhedge I don't see why we shouldn't lynch you, you quite clearly aren't reading the thread.
And this one.
War doesn't determine who's right; it determines who's left.
ok guys, what is your plan? whoever has the most votes at the end of the day will get lynched, even if we didn t reach the majority. the scum are playing with the clock. we need to start digging randomly on someone; or place a majority of votes on no lynch.
betiko wrote:ok guys, what is your plan? whoever has the most votes at the end of the day will get lynched, even if we didn t reach the majority.
Well the rules state
Rule 6 wrote:At the end of the day if a majority has not been reached, the player with the most votes will be lynched as one as they have 1/4 of the votes (a proportion greater than or equal to .25).
Now, 13*0.25=4. So I have no idea why we need 5 as said in the vote count. But as things stands, we're at no lynch.

Yes, its true that it would be in Mafia's best interest to want to kill off a power role first. I was just trying to provide an example on how claiming could be better for the Mafia earlier in the game. In my example "Mary Sue" was a VT, but she could've had a power role. My point was more or less that those who claim are usually picked off first.
Well Campin's birthday is over, so I'm hoping he will chime in his thoughts soon. My vote remains.

By my count redhedge has 3 votes which is one off a deadline lynch. We also have about 61 hours to deadline. Redhedge, now would be a good time to claim.
